Assistant Director Physical Planner (Job Group P) – One (1) Post

Terms of Service: 5-year contract
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate, prepare, and monitor the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans.
- Provide advice on development applications and control matters.
- Implement and provide feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards.
- Manage physical and land use data to ensure informed decision-making.
- Prepare action plans for residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates, and recreational facilities.
- Conduct thematic regional studies related to physical and land use planning.
- Prepare annual reports on county and local physical and land use development plans.
- Set agendas and convene physical planning liaison committee meetings.
- Maintain records of deliberations and communicate decisions of the physical planning committee to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Town Planning, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university in Kenya.
- Registration as a Physical Planner with the Kenya Physical Planner’s Registration Board.
- Corporate membership with the Kenya Institute of Planners or the Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter).
- A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in the relevant field.
- Completion of a Senior Management Course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
