Duties and Responsibilities
As a Sub-County Revenue Officer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Perform duties of a revenue collector, ensuring efficient and prompt revenue collection.
- Implement established revenue systems to enhance accountability and transparency.
- Collect and account for all revenue due to the government within your jurisdiction.
- Supervise revenue staff and ensure smooth operations in revenue collection activities.
- Maintain accurate schedules for revenue sources within the Sub-County.
- Conduct periodic surveys to assess the feasibility and potential of revenue collection.
- Monitor daily revenue collection activities and provide timely reports.
- Submit statutory reports and records within set deadlines.
- Requisition, safeguard, and account for receipt books used in revenue collection.
- Prepare and manage Authority to Incur Expenditure (AIEs), expenditure returns, and quarterly revenue and expenditure reports.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team of revenue staff to meet financial targets.
Requirements for Appointment
To qualify for the position of Sub-County Revenue Officer, applicants must meet one of the following sets of qualifications:
Option 1:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related course.
- Certificate in Accounting Packages.
- Certification in Computer Literacy.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience.
Option 2:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Section II.
- Certificate in Accounting Packages.
- Certification in Computer Literacy.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience.
Applicants are expected to have a strong foundation in financial management, revenue collection processes, and administrative duties, as well as proficiency in computer applications.
