About the Role
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing IT and ERP projects across BURN’s operations in Kenya and subsidiary countries. This role involves overseeing project lifecycles, coordinating releases, managing risks, and ensuring smooth collaboration between internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
- Prepare estimations on project scope, budget, timeline, and required resources.
- Develop comprehensive project plans and oversee execution.
- Coordinate and manage scope documentation, statements of work, and RFI/RFQ/RFP processes for external vendors.
- Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for assigned projects, bridging development and support teams.
- Ensure successful implementation of IT & ERP projects across multiple geographies.
Risk and Resource Management
- Identify and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and challenges proactively.
- Allocate and manage resources efficiently to align with project priorities.
- Oversee vendor engagement, ensuring partners meet their responsibilities and tasks.
- Lead internal and external teams to deliver high-quality solutions within set deadlines.
Process and Quality Management
- Manage the Project Lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring seamless execution from inception to completion.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, reporting, and progress tracking.
- Oversee project testing phases, including Unit Tests, SIT, UAT, Integration Tests, and Pre-Go-Live Smoke Tests.
- Manage the preparation of user training guides and support documentation.
- Ensure post-production support readiness to maintain system stability post-launch.
- Organize internal knowledge-sharing sessions for continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience
Project Management Expertise
- Strong background in IT project management within manufacturing, financial services, or digital product sectors.
- Experience managing system integration, ERP, and software development projects.
- Proficiency in project estimation, planning, and delivery management.
- Hands-on experience with Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project methodologies.
- Skilled in Project Management tools, including MS Project, Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, engaging product owners, developers, UX/UI designers, and QA testers.
- Strong stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills.
- Experience facilitating workshops and project steering meetings.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-Solving and Innovation
- Experience in troubleshooting production delivery issues and executing root cause analysis.
- Ability to design proof-of-concept (PoC) trials based on business requirements.
- Capacity to bring colleagues together, inspire internal teams, and drive successful project completion.
