We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (ME&L) to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya.

About the Role

The Senior Manager, ME&L will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing monitoring, progress review, and impact assessment across AWARD’s initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with the Programs, Training, and Communications Units to support knowledge generation, best practices, and high-impact interventions. The successful candidate will develop and implement ME&L frameworks, design tools, and coordinate impact assessments to drive AWARD’s mission forward.

Key Responsibilities

ME&L Framework Development

  • Develop, manage, and update AWARD ME&L tools, strategies, and systems.
  • Design and implement ME&L frameworks to track progress and impact across AWARD’s initiatives.
  • Ensure gender-responsive approaches in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  • Oversee project and program evaluation processes, ensuring quality monitoring and assessment.
  • Provide technical backstopping for project performance tracking.
  • Develop gender-responsive indicators and ensure data disaggregation by sex and age.
  • Monitor project milestones, identify risks, and recommend strategic adjustments.

Data Analysis and Knowledge Sharing

  • Lead the collection, compilation, and dissemination of research findings, evidence, and best practices.
  • Develop knowledge products and technical reports based on program insights.
  • Contribute to technical donor reporting and proposal development.

Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support internal teams in building ME&L competencies through training and mentorship.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote ME&L best practices and impact-driven decision-making.
  • Represent AWARD at international conferences and policy forums.

Strategic Leadership and Partnership Development

  • Serve as a key member of the senior management team, contributing to strategy formulation.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships within the agricultural development sector.
  • Supervise and mentor ME&L team members, ensuring high performance and efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (ME&L) within the international agricultural sector.
  • Strong expertise in gender and social inclusion analysis frameworks.
  • Proven track record in donor-funded program evaluation and technical reporting.
  • Experience designing and implementing ME&L systems and frameworks.
  • Strong data management and quality assurance capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency in English (French language proficiency is an added advantage).

Terms and Conditions

  • Position Type: Globally Recruited Staff (GRS)
  • Remuneration: Competitive salary in USD, commensurate with skills and experience
  • Contract Duration: 2 years, including a 6-month probation period (possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability)
  • Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya
