About the Role
The Programme Manager, Trade Facilitation will play a key role in supporting the Director West Africa & AfCFTA and the Trade and Customs (T&C) Director in ensuring that trade facilitation goals are seamlessly integrated into our organization’s strategy. The successful candidate will focus on aligning trade policies with our initiatives, providing technical and operational support to border agencies, and leading the implementation of critical trade facilitation measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade Facilitation Integration: Ensure that trade facilitation is incorporated into all relevant projects and interventions at both national and regional levels.
- Technical Support: Provide technical and operational guidance to border agencies to implement key trade facilitation initiatives, including:
- Integrated Border Management (IBM)
- Authorised Economic Operators Schemes (AEOs)
- Authorised Supply Chains (ASC)
- Trade Procedures Re-engineering
- Training and Capacity Building
- Other instruments under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Safe Standards Framework
- Policy Formulation & Implementation: Support the Director in the development, review, and execution of trade policy instruments, including:
- Trade barriers frameworks
- Trade remedies strategies
- Tariff frameworks
- Coordination of Trade Agreements Implementation: Lead and oversee the implementation of trade facilitation and customs arrangements from international trade agreements such as:
- World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement (WTO TFA)
- African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
- World Customs Organisation (WCO) protocols
