ICRC Hiring Accountant – Nairobi

Your Role

As an Accountant 2 (Arabic Speaker) at the ICRC Nairobi Delegation, you will be responsible for preparing, reconciling, and analyzing the accounting records and financial reports of the delegation or other structures under your responsibility.

Accountabilities & Functional Responsibilities

  • Verify the quality and completeness of invoices received from field delegations.
  • Prepare and record accounting entries in the accounting software in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping and archiving with appropriate supporting documents.
  • Conduct regular cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Perform integrity checks of accounting entries and account balances.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions following financial procedures.
  • Maintain sound accounting documentation to meet internal and external audit requirements.
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing activities.
  • Adhere to all administrative and financial procedures and deadlines.
  • Conduct voucher matching for supply chain goods and perform adjustment entries to clear open receipts.
  • Prepare supplier reconciliation statements.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and consolidate balance sheet accounts of field delegations/sites.
  • Compile and consolidate the List of Accounts for Reconciliation and Confirmation (LARC) monthly.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, or annual accounting reports based on needs.

What We Look for in Your Profile

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in good standing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ professional experience in an Accounting/Finance position.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in ERP (JD Edwards).
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English & Arabic (Knowledge of French is an asset).
  • Experience working with an international organization or NGO is an advantage.
