The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) is a State Corporation mandated under the Energy Act, 2019, to enhance electricity provision in rural areas while developing, managing, and promoting the use of renewable energy in Kenya. Through its initiatives, REREC aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of Kenyans living in rural areas and promote affordable alternative energy sources.

As part of our commitment to excellence and innovation, we are seeking experienced, highly motivated, and results-oriented individuals to join our team. The successful candidates must be self-driven, demonstrate high levels of integrity, and be committed to achieving the Corporation’s mandate.

Below are the current job opportunities available:

A. INFORMATION, EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION DIRECTORATE

1. General Manager, Information, Education and Communication (Grade REREC 2) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Information, Education, and Communication policies and strategies.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations within the Directorate.
  • Formulate key performance goals and communicate strategy results to employees.
  • Manage Corporate Social Responsibility programs and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge while mentoring staff.

2. Manager, Advocacy and Public Awareness (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to promote renewable energy usage.
  • Ensure the public is informed about REREC’s mandate and initiatives.
  • Develop and distribute Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • Create partnerships with counties and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development of website content and corporate publications.

B. RENEWABLE ENERGY, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Biomass Energy (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update the Renewable Energy Master Plan related to Biomass Energy.
  • Oversee feasibility studies on biomass energy resources.
  • Implement policies and regulations related to biomass energy technologies.
  • Engage with counties and other agencies to promote biomass energy use.
  • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of biomass projects.

C. POWER DISTRIBUTION AND REGIONAL COORDINATION DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Construction (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual Departmental Performance Contracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate construction contract implementation.
  • Supervise construction of REREC grid projects and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure project records are well maintained.

2. Manager, Operation and Maintenance (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of solar, wind, and renewable energy sources.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and best practices for maintaining energy facilities.
  • Forecast operational energy production and ensure timely reporting.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for renewable energy plants.

3. Senior Engineer, Operation and Maintenance (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support operation and maintenance of solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects.
  • Implement strategies to enhance efficiency in energy generation plants.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and prepare regular reports.

D. FINANCE AND ICT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Finance and Accounts (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and management of funds.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and statutory obligations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to enhance financial integrity.
  • Manage financial risk assessment and investment strategies.

2. Senior Accountant (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate sales invoices, reconcile debtors’ accounts, and ensure timely payments.
  • Manage statutory deductions and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Process supplier invoices and oversee payroll transactions.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and financial reporting.

E. INTERNAL AUDIT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Systems and Forensic Audit (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct forensic research and analysis of financial data to detect fraud.
  • Evaluate compliance with corporate security policies and risk management.
  • Provide audit recommendations and ensure the implementation of best practices.

F. STRATEGY AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

1. Principal Wayleaves Officer (Grade REREC 4) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate wayleaves acquisition for power distribution projects.
  • Oversee negotiations and compensation for wayleaves damage.
  • Maintain wayleaves records and liaise with relevant government agencies.

G. HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION DIRECTORATE

1. Senior Administrative Officer (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee office maintenance, security, and allocation of workspaces.
  • Coordinate support services and general administration.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of office equipment and records management.

2. Senior Office Administrator (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive support, coordinate meetings, and manage office documentation.
  • Handle correspondences, schedules, and office security matters.
  • Supervise junior administrative staff and ensure smooth office operations.
