The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is a state corporation mandated to develop curriculum and curriculum support materials for basic and tertiary education and training. We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:
1. SENIOR PRINCIPAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – CREATIVE ARTS (PRIMARY) – KICD GRADE 4 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development, evaluation, and review of curricula and curriculum support materials.
- Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities.
- Coordinate subject and course panel activities.
- Conduct research to address knowledge gaps in curriculum development.
- Develop and update research information management systems.
- Publish research documents and develop abstracts for dissemination.
- Organize research panels and symposiums.
- Evaluate the use of digital resources and ICT integration.
- Establish partnerships for digital content development.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent qualification.
- Master’s Degree in Education, Business Management, Public Policy, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, including 4 years in a management role.
- Leadership and management courses (each lasting at least four weeks).
- Computer literacy.
- Fulfill Chapter Six of the Constitution.
2. SENIOR PRINCIPAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – MATHEMATICS (SECONDARY) – KICD GRADE 4 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Same as position 1 above.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Same as position 1 above, with a specialization in Mathematics.
3. SENIOR PRINCIPAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – ENGLISH (PRIMARY) – KICD GRADE 4 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Same as position 1 above.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Same as position 1 above, with a specialization in English.
4. PRINCIPAL ICT OFFICER – KICD GRADE 5 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate ICT systems and ensure adherence to performance standards.
- Maintain and administer LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Ensure data security and user access controls.
- Manage outsourced ICT services.
- Supervise software and hardware maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with ICT policies.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Management course (minimum four weeks).
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Fulfill Chapter Six of the Constitution.
5. SENIOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – PHYSICAL EDUCATION (SECONDARY) – KICD GRADE 6 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop quality curriculum and curriculum support materials.
- Participate in curriculum orientation activities.
- Conduct applied and action research.
- Manage data and communicate research findings.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Physical Education) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
- Computer literacy.
- Fulfill Chapter Six of the Constitution.
6. SENIOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – FRENCH (SECONDARY) – KICD GRADE 6 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Same as position 5 above.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (French) or equivalent.
- Same as position 5 above.
7. SENIOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – MATHEMATICS (SECONDARY) – KICD GRADE 6 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Same as position 5 above.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Mathematics) or equivalent.

8. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – CRE (PRIMARY) – KICD GRADE 6 (1 POST)

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (CRE) or equivalent.
- Same as position 5 above.

Requirements for Appointment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a specialization in the respective subject.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
- Computer literacy.
- Fulfill Chapter Six of the Constitution.
