Are you committed and passionate about ensuring quality services in site, transport operations, and ethical practices? We are looking for an individual with experience as a Site Lead to support our Kisumu site operations in delivering excellent and sustainable services to our customers.
This role requires a proactive leader with strong organizational skills, a deeper understanding of logistics and transportation management, and the ability to manage a diverse team to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance. Manage KBL Kisumu transport operations with a focus on safety compliance and standards of operations, oversee Digital Control Tower (DCT) functions to optimize transportation and delivery processes.
About the role Key duties and responsibilities
- Implement actions as directed to reduce or eliminate health and safety-related risks.
- Achieve daily distribution delivery targets with effective resource and logistics management.
· Manage driver operations, including recruitment, training, performance, and safety protocols.
· Supervise site teams to ensure alignment with operational and customer service objectives.
· Engage with KBL customers proactively, addressing needs and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
- Oversee daily transport and distribution activities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
- Coordinate with DHL Supply Chain to ensure seamless integration and execution of logistics services.
- Ensure the team applies the Safety Standards and relevant guidelines.
- Implement defined processes to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and local legal obligations.
- Lead and manage a team of drivers, logistics coordinators, and support staff.
- Implement a Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) program on a daily basis to confirm behaviours and processes are followed as specified.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Kenya Breweries management, DHL Supply Chain, and customers.
- Implement the required security measures to protect the site premises, including the safety of personnel, DSC assets, and of the customer’s product for the required area.
- Develop and manage the site’s budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
- Implement and supervise the adherence of up-to-date processes, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and associated forms to achieve prescribed outputs.
- Respond to or escalate customer issues within clear guidelines and recommend solutions.
- Supervise day-to-day performance, including achievement of agreed customer KPIs and other internal KPIs (e.g. safety, operational, employee-related, etc).
- Implement the Site Development Plan identified actions for the required area.
- Professionally representing DSC to customers.
- Monitor expenses related to transportation and distribution, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure proper housekeeping to eliminate workplace hazards.
- Adhere to all DSC Health and safety rules and regulations and those of our clients.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs), including delivery accuracy, on-time performance, and fleet utilization.
- Develop and manage the site’s budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Logistics Experience of 6 years.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transport and distribution logistics, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations, fleet management, and supply chain principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of transport logistics operations, processes, and technologies, including supply chain management.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
