Purpose of the position:
Reporting to the Senior Multimedia Editor, the Multimedia Editor will be responsible undertaking camera operations, photography, video editing, and ingest operations, ensuring the production of high-quality content for broadcast and digital platforms. The Multimedia Editor is responsible for capturing, editing, and organizing media files while adhering to production standards and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Camera Operations and Photography
- Capture high-quality video footage for television, digital platforms, and other production requirements.
- Undertake professional photography assignments and edit still images to meet client and project needs.
- Set up and operate camera and lighting equipment, ensuring proper framing, exposure, and audio quality.
- Video Editing
- Edit video footage to create engaging and visually appealing content for various platforms.
- Integrate graphics, sound, and special effects to enhance the final product.
- Ensure timely delivery of edited materials, adhering to project schedules.
- Ingest Operations
- Ingest, transcode, and archive media content, maintaining an organized catalog for easy retrieval.
- Conduct quality checks on all incoming streams and package transfers to ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Manage media servers and storage, ensuring proper space utilization and backups.
- Content Preparation and Delivery
- Prepare content for broadcast and digital platforms, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all production requirements are met.
- Equipment Management
- Maintain assigned camera, photography, and editing equipment, ensuring they are in good operational condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the Senior Multimedia Editor promptly.
- Training, Mentorship, and Skill Development
- Conduct structured training sessions and hands-on workshops to enhance audiovisual skills and industry readiness.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to students, junior team members, and entrepreneurs in audiovisual production.
- Support entrepreneurial empowerment by aligning training initiatives with industry trends and business growth opportunities.
- Team Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth production workflows.
- Provide daily updates and reports on tasks completed and content delivered.
Qualifications:
- University Degree or Diploma in Media Technology, Film, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in camera operations, photography, and video editing.
- Familiarity with ingest systems, transcoding workflows, and media archiving.
- Proficiency in video editing software and photography tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
