Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Implementation
- Work closely with relevant county and community-level partners to ensure effective implementation of project interventions.
- Conduct participatory assessments with stakeholders to inform research design and planning.
- Facilitate participatory planning sessions with community members to develop adaptation strategies for regreening efforts.
- Contribute to different levels of project reporting, including situational reports, workshop summaries, and quarterly/annual reports.
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local leaders, county governments, and other stakeholders to ensure community ownership of the project.
- Organize and mobilize community meetings, including scheduling, confirming participation, and preparing necessary logistics.
- Engage in awareness-raising and advocacy efforts to ensure community involvement and buy-in for regreening initiatives.
Technical Support
- Assist project stakeholders in designing frameworks to facilitate regreening adaptation pathways.
- Establish community-level technical working groups to integrate project efforts with existing and future regreening strategies.
- Conduct capacity needs assessments to identify training and skill-building opportunities for project stakeholders.
- Promote climate-smart agricultural practices and sustainable livelihoods among community members.
- Support data collection activities such as baseline surveys and community scoping exercises.
- Follow up on stakeholder meeting deliberations to ensure actions and referrals are effectively implemented.
Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation, and Documentation
- Monitor project activities to ensure alignment with community needs and project goals.
- Organize and support monitoring visits to project intervention sites for quality assurance.
- Develop community feedback and information-sharing systems to document and address emerging needs.
- Prepare weekly updates, as well as monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual progress reports on project interventions.
- Track the progress of planned project activities in line with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.
Strategic Engagement, Partnership, and Networking
- Represent World Vision Kenya in key stakeholder meetings, forums, and networks at ward, sub-county, and county levels.
- Facilitate linkages between community groups and relevant organizations for capacity building and support.
- Strengthen partnerships with county governments and other stakeholders to enhance community resilience and sustainability.
What We Are Looking For:
- Local Applicants Only (Homa Bay and Makueni counties).
- Degree or Diploma in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in community work related to Livelihood & Resilience, Food Security, or Climate Change Adaptation projects.
- Must own and ride a motorbike with a valid license.
- Strong communication skills in English (both oral and written) and a good understanding of the local dialect and cultural context.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to thrive in diverse cultural contexts and maintain performance expectations.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender and youth livelihood initiatives in resilience programming.
