Job Opportunity: Senior Technical Advisor, Tuberculosis

Main Purpose of the Role
The Senior Technical Advisor, Tuberculosis will provide technical leadership and coordination for TB initiatives supported under the Global Fund TB grant and other donors. This role will align with the National Strategic Plan for TB, Leprosy, and Lung Disease and the Ministry of Health’s policies and guidelines. The advisor will engage with key stakeholders, lead capacity-building efforts, and ensure the successful implementation of TB grants.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision, Oversight, and Technical Leadership
- Provide strategic technical leadership to ensure quality and sustainable programmatic and financial outcomes in line with Amref, Global Fund, and AICS policies.
- Supervise and mentor Global Fund TB technical staff, including two TB Project Officers and three Project Associates, as well as the AICS TB Project Associate.
- Strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to implement, monitor, and report on grant activities through technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight.
- Lead the development of annual work plans, monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports in line with donor requirements.
- Support the Ministry of Health in developing, reviewing, and implementing TB policies, guidelines, and strategy documents at national and county levels.
- Provide technical input for developing new funding proposals and concept notes.
Coordination and Linkages
- Act as a subject matter expert on TB for Amref at high-level consultative meetings with government agencies, donors, and stakeholders.
- Represent Amref in TB Health Sector Working Committees, expert panels, planning and review meetings, and national and international conferences.
- Support strategic communication efforts, including the development of press releases and other key documents.
- Lead the design, planning, and implementation of Global Fund TB and AICS project technical grant activities.
- Ensure effective grant start-up, timely implementation, and adherence to national guidelines.
- Work closely with the National TB Program to align donor-supported activities with national strategies for quality health service delivery.
- Coordinate with national and county governments and technical partners for planning and implementation of joint activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Strengthen the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems for the Global Fund TB program at both the Principal Recipient and Sub-Recipient levels.
- Collaborate with Amref and Global Fund TB M&E teams to enhance data collection, reporting, and operational research efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in a health-focused NGO, particularly in TB and HIV/AIDS programming.
- Proven experience in project coordination, monitoring, reporting, and documentation.
Education
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
- Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within multicultural teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, dynamic, and able to work independently.
