The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), formerly known as the Rural Electrification Authority, is a State Corporation mandated under the Energy Act, 2019, to enhance the provision of electricity in rural areas and promote the use of renewable energy in Kenya. By executing its mandate, REREC contributes to the socio-economic well-being of Kenyans in rural areas and encourages the use of affordable renewable energy alternatives.

A. INFORMATION, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNICATION DIRECTORATE

1. General Manager, Information, Education, and Communication (Grade REREC 2) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Formulate and implement Information, Education, and Communication policies and strategies.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations.
  • Participate in organizational strategy formulation and implementation.
  • Develop key performance goals and communicate them to the team.
  • Report key results to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Engage in key customer service activities.
  • Prepare the departmental budget and ensure adherence to budget controls.
  • Oversee the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
  • Collaborate with customers, government entities, community organizations, and employees.
  • Enforce ethical business practices and maintain quality service standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Mentor and guide staff within the Directorate.

2. Manager, Advocacy and Public Awareness (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Initiate the development of the Corporation’s Advocacy strategy.
  • Promote the use of renewable energy through strategic advocacy.
  • Ensure public awareness of the Corporation’s mandate.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • Build linkages and partnerships with counties and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the implementation of sensitization and advocacy initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental activities and prepare relevant reports.

B. RENEWABLE ENERGY, RESEARCH, AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Biomass Energy (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Develop and update the Renewable Energy Master Plan for Biomass Energy.
  • Coordinate the development and review of policies, standards, and guidelines related to Biomass Energy.
  • Implement Biomass Energy technologies (bio-diesel, bio-ethanol, charcoal, bio-digesters, fuel wood, municipal waste, and cogeneration).
  • Collaborate with counties and other agencies to promote Biomass Energy.
  • Monitor and evaluate Biomass projects and activities.
  • Participate in resource mobilization for Biomass energy projects.

C. POWER DISTRIBUTION AND REGIONAL COORDINATION DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Construction (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Coordinate the preparation of annual Departmental Performance Contracts.
  • Implement policies and programs on power system designs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of Construction Contracts.
  • Supervise the construction of all REREC grid projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on construction of distribution and transmission lines.
  • Ensure all construction works conform to approved standards.

2. Manager, Operation and Maintenance (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Develop strategies for the Operation and Management of solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources.
  • Ensure management of facilities, generation plants, and networks according to industry best practices.
  • Coordinate the Scheduling and implementation of preventive and planned maintenance.
  • Provide daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on renewable energy projects.

3. Senior Engineer, Operation and Maintenance (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Implement strategies for the Operation and Management of renewable energy sources.
  • Manage facilities, generation plants, networks, and installation of substations.
  • Provide daily monitoring and forecasting reports for renewable energy sources.
  • Liaise with other departments for effective project implementation.

D. FINANCE AND ICT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Finance and Accounts (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Manage financial operations and budgeting within the Corporation.
  • Consolidate budget estimates and forecast annual cash flow requirements.
  • Develop and manage internal controls and compliance.
  • Ensure prudent utilization of Corporation funds and assets.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports and ensure timely submission to relevant institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial statutory obligations and circulars.

2. Senior Accountant (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Generate sales invoices and facilitate prompt delivery.
  • Reconcile debtors and SAP ledgers.
  • Manage debt collection and follow up.
  • Process vendor payment vouchers and reconcile vendor accounts.
  • Handle statutory deductions payments (e.g., PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax).
  • Digitize imprests and imprests surrender documents.

E. INTERNAL AUDIT DIRECTORATE

1. Manager, Systems and Forensic Audit (Grade REREC 3) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Perform forensic research on Corporation’s financial data to identify potential fraud.
  • Evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of operational processes.
  • Conduct investigations on reported and suspected cases.
  • Provide advisory on audit issues and recommend solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor departmental staff.

F. STRATEGY AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

1. Principal Wayleaves Officer (Grade REREC 4) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Provide technical leadership on wayleaves for distribution and transmission lines.
  • Coordinate wayleaves acquisition along distribution networks.
  • Verify wayleaves compensation proposals before approval.
  • Manage human, financial, and material resources assigned to the section.
  • Resolve disputes arising from wayleaves issues.

G. HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION DIRECTORATE

1. Senior Administrative Officer (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Supervise support services and general cleanliness within the Corporation.
  • Coordinate identification of office equipment and furniture requirements.
  • Facilitate meetings, conferences, and special events.
  • Ensure general maintenance of office equipment and buildings.

2. Senior Office Administrator (Grade REREC 5) – 1 Post

Job Description:

  • Ensure security of office equipment, documents, and records.
  • Plan and organize meetings, workshops, and seminars.
  • Handle telephone calls, enquiries, and appointments.
  • Manage office petty cash and supervise Assistant Office Administrator.
