The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Higher Education and Research, has announced the availability of four (4) scholarships for Kenyan students to pursue medical studies in Cuba for the year 2025. This initiative follows a communication from the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Kenya, reflecting a continued commitment to educational cooperation between the two nations.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for these prestigious scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Academic Qualifications:
- A minimum KCSE mean grade of B (Plain).
- Age Requirement:
- Applicants must be not more than 25 years old.
- Financial Background:
- Priority will be given to students from low-income families, particularly those from rural areas.
- Passport Validity:
- Applicants must possess a valid passport with at least 6 years of validity.
Required Documents
Interested candidates are required to submit the following documents:
- Standard Scholarship Application Form:
- Downloadable from the Ministry of Education’s website: www.education.go.ke. Ensure the form is duly filled.
- Certified High School Certificate:
- Verification of academic qualifications.
- Medical Test Certificates:
- Including HIV, TB, and pregnancy tests for female applicants.
- Certificate of Good Conduct:
- Issued by relevant authorities as proof of ethical behavior.
- Passport-sized Photographs:
- 10 photos sized 1×1 cm.
- Personal Letter:
- A letter requesting the scholarship, detailing the applicant’s motivation and aspirations.
- Signed Code of Ethics for Foreign Students:
- To be collected from Teleposta Towers, Room 2701.
- Commitment Letter for Air Ticket:
- A letter confirming the student’s commitment to pay for the air ticket to and from Cuba.
- Photocopy of Passport Biodata Page:
- For identification purposes.
- Birth Certificate:
- Accompanied by a translated copy in Spanish.
- Scholarship Award Certificate:
- This must specify the degree program and be signed and stamped by the Cuban diplomatic representation accredited in Kenya and by the student.
Legalization of Documents
