The Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the operations of UNICEF. It helps UNICEF accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes.
OIAI’s annual work plan covers a wide range of UNICEF’s activities implemented at Headquarters and field locations throughout the world. The Internal Audit Specialist is a seasoned professional who assists Internal Audit Manager and/or Senior Internal Audit Manager, and occasionally, leads a team in providing assurance and advisory services. It is expected that the incumbent has in-depth understanding and experience in internal auditing and can work with less supervision.
Engagement Planning
Participate in the risk assessment and in the planning for the provision of assurance and advisory services.
When assigned as a team leader, lead the risk assessment and planning for the provision of assurance and advisory services.
Engagement Execution
Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes of area covered.

- Minimum requirements
- Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Prevention, Info. Technology, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and any other related fields. A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Work Experience: At Least 5 years of relevant work experience in Audit and Investigation, internal auditing, external auditing.
- Skills: audit governance, risk management, analytical, problem solving
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
- Desirables
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies.
