ADVOCACY UNIT MANAGER

APHRC seeks to recruit an Advocacy Unit Manager, to join the Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) Program. The position holder will be responsible for leading the Advocacy work at the Center. The role covers extensive project management and people management both internally for the project teams and externally in building partnerships.
The role holder will carry out resource mobilization to ensure there is a constant stream of funding coming into the Center from new and existing funders. Additionally, he/she will create and strengthen synergy between teams and projects given their bird’s eye view of all the advocacy projects within the Unit and across the Center.
CHERCHEUR SCIENTIFIQUE POSTDOCTORAL (H/F)

APHRC cherche à recruter un Chercheur Scientifique Postdoctoral très motivé et talentueux pour travailler au sein du Bureau régional de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (WARO) à Dakar. Le candidat rejoindra une équipe qui étudie l’impact du changement climatique et de la pollution atmosphérique sur les maladies non transmissibles au Sénégal, ainsi que l’impact sur la santé humaine de la restauration des terres africaines dégradées, l’adaptation et l’atténuation liées à l’utilisation des terres financées par la UK Medical Research Foundation (MRF)et la MRF. Il s’agit d’une opportunité passionnante de rejoindre cette collaboration avec la London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) et le Ministère de la Santé au Sénégal. Le candidat idéal doit posséder de solides compétences quantitatives, idéalement en épidémiologie environnementale et en analyse géospatiale, et chercher à acquérir de l’expérience dans l’utilisation de l’utilisation des terres et de la couverture végétale, ainsi que des données et de nouvelles méthodes statistiques dans l’évaluation de l’impact sur la santé.
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCIENTIST

APHRC seeks to recruit a highly motivated and talented Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to work within the West Africa Regional Office (WARO) in Dakar.
The candidate will join a growing team that develops local, national and international spatiotemporal models for environmental determinants of health, such as air pollution, climate related covariates and built environment that can be used for studies of their health effects.
The ideal candidate should have strong quantitative, environmental science and epidemiology background, and is seeking experience in the application of advanced methods, such as machine learning/Artificial Intelligence and novel statistical methods in exposure science research.
This is a role arising from the implementation of the current five-year strategic plan which has, subsequently triggered tremendous growth in our programs.
QUANTITATIVE FIELD INTERVIEWERS

APHRC is implementing a research project, titled, ‘The effect of community led interventions on handwashing with soap in low-income settlements of Mombasa, Kenya’ -The RECKITT study.
The aim of the study is to examine the effect of a community handwashing intervention on handwashing with soap in the low-income areas of Mombasa in Kenya.
The study will be implemented in two villages in Junda ward/location through a cluster randomized controlled trial with quantitative and qualitative data collection.
