The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) was established by the National Gender and Equality Commission Act, 2011, pursuant to Article 59 (4) of the Constitution of Kenya. It is one of the three successor commissions to the Kenya National Human Rights and Equality Commission (KNHREC) established under Article 59 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. The other two commissions are the Commission on Administrative Justice and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.
NGEC’s mandate is informed by Section 8 of the National Gender and Equality Commission Act 2011, which empowers the commission to promote gender equality and freedom from discrimination in line with the Kenyan Constitution. The Commission focuses on special interest groups, including women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, minority and marginalized groups, and older members of society.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Office Assistant III will be responsible for providing support services to ensure the smooth operation of the office environment. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Cleaning Offices, Machines, Equipment, and Apparatus
- Ensuring that offices, machines, and equipment are clean and well-maintained.
- Regularly cleaning office apparatus to ensure hygienic conditions.
- Coordinating with office staff to schedule cleaning times that minimize disruptions.
- Cleaning Kitchen and Preparing Tea
- Maintaining cleanliness in the office kitchen.
- Preparing and serving tea to staff and visitors.
- Ensuring the kitchen area is well-stocked with supplies and maintained in a hygienic condition.
- Maintaining General Cleanliness Around the Offices
- Collecting and disposing of litter within and around the office premises.
- Ensuring that office corridors, common areas, and meeting rooms are clean and tidy.
- Reporting maintenance needs for office facilities.
- Ensuring Proper Sanitation
- Maintaining high standards of sanitation in washrooms and other public areas.
- Regularly disinfecting surfaces to maintain hygiene.
- Replenishing sanitation supplies such as hand wash and tissue paper.
- Carrying Out Photocopying and Binding Documents
- Assisting office staff with photocopying and binding documents.
- Ensuring that photocopying and binding machines are well-maintained and functional.
- Managing paper and other consumables needed for photocopying and binding.
- Dusting Offices
- Dusting office furniture, equipment, and other surfaces to maintain cleanliness.
- Ensuring that the office environment is free from dust and allergens.
- Moving or Carrying Office Equipment and Furniture
- Assisting in the relocation of office equipment and furniture as required.
- Ensuring the safety and security of office assets while moving or carrying them.
- Arranging furniture for meetings, events, and other office functions.
- Dispatching Letters
- Assisting in the delivery and dispatch of letters and parcels.
- Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of correspondence to the intended recipients.
- Coordinating with postal and courier services as needed.
Requirements for Appointment
To be eligible for appointment to this position, a candidate must possess:
- A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or its equivalent from the Kenya National Examination Council.
- Computer skills.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
