INTRODUCTION
The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is a fully state-owned corporation established on December 2, 2008, under the Companies Act, Cap 486. The company was formed in line with the Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy, with the mandate to plan, design, construct, own, operate, and maintain the high-voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors.
KETRACO envisions providing a stable power grid that will transform lives across the region and beyond. Its mission is to facilitate power trade and deliver a reliable electricity transmission system for sustainable socio-economic development.
To support its operations, KETRACO invites applications from qualified individuals for the following positions:
1. GRADUATE ENGINEER, POWER DISPATCH (KET 6) – (2 POSITIONS)

Reporting to: Senior Engineer, Real Time Operations
Job Purpose
The Graduate Engineer, Power Dispatch, is responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable delivery of bulk electrical energy while adhering to commercial and technical obligations as per the transmission system operator (TSO) generation plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain allowable frequency range per the Kenya National Transmission Grid Code (KNTGC) and East African Power Pool Interconnection Code (EAPP IC).
- Ensure system voltages at all buses are maintained within the required range.
- Execute optimal generation dispatch guided by the merit order of dispatch.
- Monitor the status and assignment of reactive power equipment in the system.
- Record machine dispatch and output data for system performance reporting.
- Log relevant system events according to operational procedures and management directives.
- Implement real-time actions to ensure the stable operation of the National Transmission Grid.
- Work collaboratively with Transmission Management Engineers to optimize shift output.
- Coordinate with internal company departments, generators, and transmission operators (TOs) for system security and stability.
- Collaborate with KPLC’s Regional Shift Controllers to maintain the integrity of the system at 11kV, 33kV, and 66kV networks.
- Capture and report faults or incidents affecting the National Transmission Grid following operational procedures.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance at the end of each shift.
- Undertake required internal and external training to achieve necessary certifications.
Working Conditions:
- Control room and office setting.

- Valid Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Valid Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) report.
