Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) is a State Corporation established by the Government of Kenya under the Kenya Leather Development Council Order, 2011 (Legal Notice No. 114 of 9th September, 2011), under the State Corporations Act (Cap.446), Laws of Kenya. The Council was instituted as a specialized agency to drive the Government’s agenda on the development of the leather industry. To achieve this, the Council is expected to regulate and facilitate the growth of the industry.
KLDC seeks to recruit competent, dynamic, and results-oriented individuals to fill the following positions:
1. Director, Technical Services
Gross Salary: Ksh. 312,427
Terms of Employment: Three (3) years renewable contract
Location: Headquarters – Nairobi
Job Purpose
The Director, Technical Services will direct, coordinate, and oversee operations in the Directorate of Technical Services by providing strategic leadership and management to ensure the directorate delivers on the Council’s mandate towards the development of the leather sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily activities of the directorate.
- Coordinating the development of long-term strategies, business plans, annual budgets, procurement plans, and policies.
- Monitoring and evaluating the leather industry for planning and advisory purposes.
- Developing legal frameworks for licensing, fair trading, quality assurance, and compliance.
- Spearheading innovation, research, and investment promotion in the leather sector.
- Ensuring efficient delivery of services, market strategies, and international partnerships.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience, with five (5) in senior management.
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
2. Manager, Capacity Building
Gross Salary: Ksh. 236,030
Terms of Employment: Three (3) years renewable contract
Location: Training & Production Centre for Shoe Industry (TPCSI), Thika
Job Purpose
Responsible for coordinating and managing training and production activities to enhance skills and knowledge in the leather industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out public education on industry productivity.
- Undertaking industry skills development.
- Coordinating training, internships, and outreach programs.
- Developing and revising training curricula.
- Maintaining a register of trained MSMEs.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with three (3) in senior management.
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
3. Manager, Common Manufacturing Facilities
Gross Salary: Ksh. 236,030
Terms of Employment: Three (3) years renewable contract
Location: Kariokor Common Manufacturing Facilities, Nairobi
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing and managing Common Manufacturing Facilities (CMFs) to improve service delivery to manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and reviewing CMF policies and strategies.
- Promoting skills development and technology transfer.
- Implementing quality assurance frameworks.
- Developing market linkages and access.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a leather-related field.

4. Manager, Quality Assurance & Compliance
Gross Salary: Ksh. 236,030

Job Purpose
Responsible for ensuring compliance with quality assurance regulations across the leather value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and revising industry standards.
- Conducting inspections and verifications of imports and exports.
- Registering and monitoring leather sector players.
- Promoting environmental management systems.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a leather-related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with three (3) in senior management.

5. Principal ICT Officer, Systems Development
Gross Salary: Ksh. 171,016
Terms of Employment: Permanent & Pensionable
Location: Headquarters – Nairobi
Job Purpose
Oversees the development and implementation of ICT solutions for KLDC, including system security, backup, and software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing secure ERP systems.
- Developing and maintaining software solutions.
- Overseeing ICT user training and compliance.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant IT discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience, with three (3) in a senior role.
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in programming and ERP deployment.
6. Internal Auditor
Gross Salary: Ksh. 100,047
Terms of Employment: Permanent & Pensionable
Location: Headquarters – Nairobi
Job Purpose
Responsible for evaluating internal control systems and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting audits and risk assessments.
- Preparing audit reports and recommendations.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part II.
- Membership in ICPAK or IIA-Kenya.
