We are now looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Fleet Artisan to join our team in Nyeri on a fixed-term basis.

Key Purpose Statement

The Fleet Artisan plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing the company’s vehicles and forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This position primarily focuses on frame and bodywork repairs, reporting directly to the Fleet Controller.

As a Fleet Artisan, you will be instrumental in reducing vehicle downtime, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring that all vehicles and forklifts operate optimally. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the overall efficiency of our fleet operations, ensuring our products reach consumers without delay.


Job Description: Fleet Artisan

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Execution of Planned Maintenance Activities
    • Carry out scheduled maintenance activities as per company guidelines.
    • Conduct detailed inspections to identify potential issues before they escalate.
    • Ensure all servicing and repairs are completed within stipulated timelines to minimize disruptions.
  2. Routine Checklist and Abnormality Reporting
    • Perform routine vehicle and forklift checklists.
    • Identify and report all abnormalities to the Fleet Controller for necessary action.
    • Maintain accurate records of vehicle conditions and highlight areas that require urgent attention.
  3. Maintenance and Repairs
    • Carry out necessary repairs on vehicles and forklifts to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Follow structured work orders to ensure all repairs are conducted effectively.
    • Ensure that all repairs meet quality standards and safety regulations.
  4. Breakdown Support
    • Provide rapid response to vehicle breakdowns.
    • Troubleshoot issues on-site and make necessary temporary repairs to get the vehicle back in operation.
    • If required, arrange for vehicle transportation to the workshop for extensive repairs.
  5. Diagnosis and Defect Assessment
    • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify defects before initiating repair work.
    • Utilize diagnostic tools and expertise to determine the cause of vehicle malfunctions.
    • Provide detailed reports on detected issues and recommended solutions.
  6. Reducing Downtime and Ensuring Efficiency
    • Aim to minimize vehicle breakdowns by ensuring high-quality repair and maintenance work.
    • Implement preventive maintenance strategies to avoid future issues.
    • Ensure quick turnaround times for vehicle repairs to maintain fleet efficiency.
  7. Continuous Vehicle Evaluation
    • Conduct regular checks on company vehicles and forklifts to detect any abnormalities.
    • Ensure all components are functioning correctly and promptly address any concerns.
    • Keep comprehensive records of vehicle maintenance history.
  8. Quality Workmanship in Repairs
    • Uphold the highest standards in bodywork and frame repairs.
    • Ensure all repairs adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines.
    • Utilize the best practices in vehicle restoration and maintenance.
  9. Basic Awareness and Training for Company Vehicle Users
    • Educate company vehicle users on best practices for asset care.
    • Conduct training sessions on preventive maintenance and proper handling of vehicles.
    • Provide guidelines on emergency procedures in case of vehicle breakdowns.

Skills, Experience & Education

Qualifications:

  • National certification as a vehicle mechanic and panel beater.
  • Additional skills in bodywork and frame repairs will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a fleet maintenance workshop.
  • In-depth knowledge of car mechanics, including diagnostics and repair techniques.
