Job Title: Associate Professor in Education
Job Objective:
As an Associate Professor in Education, you will play a critical role in mentoring postgraduate students, developing research proposals, improving academic programs, and ensuring high-quality teaching standards at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Your contribution to research, peer reviews, curriculum development, and student support will be key in shaping the future of our education programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise postgraduate students as assigned by the Chair of Department (COD).
- Assist in the writing of research and grant proposals to attract funding.
- Participate in the review and improvement of graduate research programs.
- Develop, plan, and implement high-quality curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Conduct peer reviews for faculty members seeking academic promotions.
- Teach and facilitate learning through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials as assigned.
- Administer and evaluate exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Assist in developing learning materials and maintaining academic records.
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, ensuring their academic success.
- Conduct and publish research, contributing to the body of knowledge in the field of education.
- Offer pastoral care through academic advising and counselling services.
- Engage in continuous professional development and staff training activities.
- Maintain proper records of students’ assessments and ensure timely entry into the examination management system.
- Actively participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide meetings and decision-making processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Earned PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field from a recognized and accredited institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive and high-quality teaching experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer, Senior Researcher, or equivalent.
- At least five (5) high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals since the last promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion, including at least one doctoral student.
- Successfully attracted research or development funding as a Senior Lecturer or Senior Research Fellow.
- Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Demonstrated commitment to university and community service.
- Evidence of national and international contributions, such as participation in scholarly conferences, research seminars, and service in advisory boards, will be an added advantage.
