To support this vision, IFC’s PPP & Corporate Finance Advisory Department (CTA) is seeking an Associate Investment Officer to contribute to its Corporate Finance Services (CFS) Division in Nairobi, Kenya. This role will play a key part in executing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory services, corporate restructuring, equity mobilization, and pre-IPO advisory solutions across the Continental Africa region.

About the Corporate Finance Services (CFS) Division

The CFS Division provides three key services:

  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Advisory: Helping clients attract new investors, acquire new businesses, or spin off business units.
  • Corporate Restructuring Advisory: Supporting organizations in designing and implementing strategies to improve profitability and maximize value.
  • Equity Mobilization Program (EMP): Assisting investment teams in securing third-party equity investments for IFC’s projects.
  • Strategic Pre-IPO Advisory: Advising clients on listing on international stock markets, including timing, regulations, valuation, and corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Investment Officer will be responsible for supporting the execution of CFS services across Continental Africa. Specific duties include:

  • Executing buy-side and sell-side advisory, corporate restructuring, EMP services, and IPO mandates.
  • Developing financial models and conducting financial statement analysis.
  • Performing industry and market research.
  • Preparing internal and external pitchbooks.
  • Creating marketing and promotional materials as needed.
  • Monitoring project pipelines and updating management on progress.
  • Supporting departmental initiatives to enhance systems and project delivery.
  • Assisting senior officers in client advisory and knowledge management.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance.
  • At least six years of experience in investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance.
  • Strong financial modeling skills.
  • Experience in client engagement, deal negotiations, and mandate-signing activities is an advantage.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in English is required; French or Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and interest in private sector development and investment advisory.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
