The County Public Service Board, on behalf of the County Government of Tana River, pursuant to Section 59(1) and 66 of the County Governments Act 2012, as read together with Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, invites applications from competent and qualified individuals to fill the following vacant positions:
1. Medical Officer, J/G ‘M’ (3 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with various diseases.
- Performing medical and surgical procedures.
- Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters.
- Managing medical instruments, medicines, and other medical equipment.
- Providing health education to patients and the community.
- Maintaining medical records and health information.
- Coaching medical students, nursing students, and clinical officer interns.
- Preparing requisite documents for registration.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
2. Registered Clinical Officer II, J/G ‘J’ (8 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Taking medical history, examining, diagnosing, and treating patients at outpatient or inpatient facilities.
- Implementing community healthcare programs.
- Guiding and counseling patients, clients, and staff on health matters.
- Sensitizing the community on preventive and promotive health.
- Referring patients to specialized healthcare facilities.
- Providing clinical outreach and school health services.
- Performing minor surgical procedures.
- Collating and compiling clinical data.
- Preparing medico-legal reports.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
3. Registered Nurse III, J/G ‘H’ (20 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care interventions.
- Providing healthcare services, including childhood illness management, immunization, PMTCT, antenatal care, and delivery services.
- Offering health education and counseling to patients and caregivers.
- Facilitating patient admissions and discharge plans.
- Maintaining accurate records of patient health conditions and treatment.
- Ensuring a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Collecting and compiling health data.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
4. Enrolled Nurse III, J/G ‘G’ (6 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessing and determining patient healthcare needs.
- Planning and implementing nursing care interventions.
- Providing immunization, antenatal care, and delivery services.
- Referring patients to higher-level care facilities when necessary.
- Evaluating patient outcomes and preparing reports.
- Conducting home visits and follow-up care for discharged patients.
- Ensuring a safe and hygienic clinical environment.
- Treating minor ailments and managing inpatient belongings.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
5. Nutrition and Dietetics Technologist III, J/G ‘H’ (2 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementing nutrition assessments.
- Collecting and compiling nutritional data.
- Providing nutrition education and demonstrations.
- Counseling patients with specific dietary needs.
- Monitoring the preparation of therapeutic feeding programs.
- Promoting maternal, infant, and young child feeding programs.
- Providing micronutrient supplementation.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
6. Assistant Public Health Officer III, J/G ‘H’ (6 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mobilizing, sensitizing, and advising communities on environmental health matters.
- Referring public health cases to relevant facilities.
- Carrying out immunization programs.
- Identifying environmental health issues at the community level.
- Organizing community health education and awareness days.
- Collecting and maintaining updated records of health services provided.
- Implementing vector, vermin, and rodent control measures.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
7. Orthopedic Trauma Technologist III, J/G ‘H’ (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manipulating and reducing fractures and dislocations.
- Applying and removing casts, bandages, and traction devices.
- Correcting congenital musculoskeletal conditions such as CTEV.
- Counseling patients on orthopedic trauma recovery.
- Treating simple orthopedic wounds.
- Documenting orthopedic and trauma cases.
- Assessing and referring patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
8. Public Health Assistant III, J/G ‘G’ (4 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mobilizing, sensitizing, and advising communities on environmental health matters.
- Referring health cases to relevant facilities.
- Identifying environmental health issues at the household level.
- Organizing community health education and outreach programs.
- Collecting and maintaining updated records of health services provided.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
9. Health Records and Information Technologist III, J/G ‘H’ (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receiving and documenting patients at hospital reception desks.
- Registering and booking patient appointments.
- Storing and retrieving medical records and documents.
- Preparing patient clinics and maintaining patient data.
- Editing and coding patient case records as per international classification.
- Maintaining records safety and confidentiality.
- Scheduling patient visits to consultants and specialists.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
