ABOUT THE POSITION
The Alliance is seeking to recruit Two (2) qualified and competent Research Associates who will be field-based in (Kisumu) or based in Nairobi with frequent travel to the field (Kisumu, Kiambu, Makueni). The Research Associates will be responsible for planning, coordinating, accompanying and the roll-out of different stakeholder engagements, sustainable farming and related research activities.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Co-develop with the supervisor, context-specific schedule and contents for stakeholder engagement based on existing methodologies (ABCD, Sustainability Planning, vision-to-action (V2A), gender transformative approaches etc.)
- Co-develop activity-specific budgets, ensure proper documentation, and file returns.
- Set up relevant logistics arrangements.
- Implement and coordinate fieldwork, including workshops, trainings, external support planning and activities.
- Coordinate field research activities, and contribute to data analysis and writing up results, where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other teams and projects where appropriate.
- Train other team members in engagement modules where appropriate.
- Compose activity reports.
- Participate in and contribute to donor and partner visits and exchanges.
- Additional activities as agreed upon with supervisor.
Requirements
- At least BSc Degree in Agriculture, Social Science, Community Development & Gender Studies or its equivalent.
- Further related studies are an advantage.
- Additional professional training in community development, engagement approaches, and sustainable agriculture are added advantages.
- Minimum 7+ Years of experience in related field.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Asset-based community-driven development (ABCD) methods and tools.
- Inclusive community organizing.
- Participatory and gender-responsive value chain analysis and smallholder business tools.
- Agriculture extension.
- Agroecology and natural farming techniques.
- Gender-transformative approaches.
- Filed-based research ethics and methods.
Benefits
This position is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The initial contract will be for One (1) year subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
This position is graded at BG06, with a minimum basic salary of 168,837.00 Kenya Shillings level in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
