Teaching Positions
1. Lecturer/Research Fellow (Biomedical Sciences) – Grade AC 12 (1 Position) (Re-advertisement)
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Lecturing in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus.
- Coordinating course projects and practical work.
- Preparing teaching and learning materials.
- Setting, invigilating, and marking examinations and assignments.
- Conducting research in the relevant field or specialization.
- Preparing student progress reports.
- Developing proposals for research funding.
- Writing journal articles and books.
- Presenting academic papers at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Developing and reviewing academic programs and curricula.
- Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students.
2. Tutorial/Junior Research Fellow (Kiswahili) – Grade AC 11 (1 Position)
The Ken Walibora Tutorial Fellowship is an esteemed academic position for Kiswahili scholars, offering an opportunity for career growth and research into the literary works and philosophy of Ken Walibora.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lecturing in the area of specialization at the undergraduate level.
- Preparing teaching and learning materials.
- Setting, invigilating, and marking examinations and assignments.
- Conducting research under the supervision of a Senior Lecturer.
- Preparing student progress reports.
- Contributing to academic publications and books.
Administrative Position
1. Senior Accountant – Grade AD 13 (1 Position) (Re-advertisement)
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Interpreting, advising, and coordinating the implementation of government financial policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Spearheading the formulation and review of financial management and accounting procedures.
- Overseeing the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Ensuring compliance with public sector and donor financial reporting guidelines.
- Supervising the preparation and implementation of financial manuals and procedures.
- Authorizing payments and ensuring compliance with expenditure limits.
- Reviewing the application of accounting standards and systems.
- Monitoring and ensuring timely production of management and statutory financial reports.
- Instituting accounting and internal control procedures.
- Ensuring that all donor and government grants are accounted for appropriately.
- Preparing, planning, and coordinating external audits.
- Approving all correcting journal entries prepared by accountants.
Terms and Conditions
Successful candidates for the positions of Lecturer/Research Fellow and Senior Accountant shall be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms, subject to satisfactory performance in accordance with the terms and conditions of service approved by the University Council. The Tutorial/Junior Research Fellow position is a one-year contract, renewable based on performance.
