JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lecturer (Grade 12)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching and evaluating undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Setting, moderating, administering, processing, and marking examinations.
- Academic advising and mentoring students.
- Developing teaching and learning materials.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities.
- Developing research proposals for funding.
- Participating in research collaborations and conferences.
- Contributing to departmental and faculty strategic planning.
- Organizing and supervising educational activities for students.
- Engaging in consultancy, administrative, and academic activities within the department.
- Participating in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and related academic activities.
- Undertaking administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution and registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable). OR
- A Master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution, with at least three (3) years of university teaching, research, or industry experience.
- A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, including at least ten (10) from refereed journal papers.
- Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
2. Assistant Lecturer (Grade 11)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching, evaluating, and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Setting, administering, and marking examinations.
- Developing teaching and learning materials.
- Participating in departmental and faculty planning.
- Organizing and supervising undergraduate educational activities.
- Attending academic workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Participating in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Enrollment in a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral program.
- Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
3. Skills Laboratory Technologist (Nursing) (Grade 10)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervising and assisting nursing students in laboratory sessions.
- Coordinating nursing skills and practical sessions.
- Developing clinical activity programs.
- Evaluating students’ skills and maintaining confidential records.
- Managing lab schedules, equipment, and reference materials.
- Ensuring compliance with safety and accreditation standards.
- Maintaining relationships with equipment vendors.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A Diploma in Nursing (added advantage).
- A minimum of three (3) years of practical nursing experience.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- A valid practicing license.
4. Medical Laboratory Technologist (Grade 10)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting, analyzing, and preserving laboratory samples.
- Performing blood grouping and transfusion screening.
- Preparing blood products for safe storage and usage.
- Maintaining and decontaminating laboratory equipment.
- Preparing laboratory reagents and stains.
- Recording and dispatching test results for clinical use.
- Managing laboratory records and inventory.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Registration with a relevant professional body.
- A valid practicing license.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, with at least three (3) years at the Medical Laboratory Technologist II level or an equivalent role.
