About the Role
The Programme Officer (IDP Registration) will play a crucial role in managing, coordinating, and overseeing the Interoperable Registration Program in the Nairobi Regional Office. The officer will ensure a systematic registration process to enhance accountability in humanitarian aid distribution. Given the sensitivity and risk associated with registration data, the officer will develop safe, secure, and effective data-sharing mechanisms in collaboration with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Interoperable Registration Program, ensuring smooth administration and financial management.
- Provide technical guidance and strategic support to national and international staff working on IDP registration activities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, government officials, and local communities to support registration efforts.
- Identify emerging needs and contribute to the design of new projects within the program.
- Ensure that programmatic directions are aligned with international stakeholders and donor requirements.
- Oversee the development of reports, project updates, and donor briefs, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Monitor progress, provide advice on strategic improvements, and establish an effective Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) framework.
- Develop and maintain data collection systems and share insights with humanitarian partners.
- Provide technical training and mentorship to programme staff.
- Ensure the production of visibility and communication materials for public engagement.
- Represent IOM in meetings, conferences, and donor briefings at national and international levels.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Required Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of migration-related topics and humanitarian response.
- Experience working with UN agencies, government counterparts, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
- Strong project management, coordination, and technical advisory skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of data governance, protection, and security in humanitarian response.
- Experience in developing SOPs, assessment tools, and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an added advantage.
