Introduction The Embu County Government, through the Office of the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, is inviting applications from qualified, results-oriented, and self-motivated Kenyan citizens for appointment to various positions. These positions offer an opportunity to serve the people of Embu and contribute to the county’s development agenda.

The available vacancies are as follows:


1. COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER (CECM) – ONE (1) POST

Vacancy No.: VN/1/3/25
Terms of Service: Contract
Salary: As prescribed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the administration and delivery of services in the respective county departments, decentralized units, and agencies.
  • Carry out functions incidental to any of the assigned duties.
  • Provide the County Assembly with full and regular reports on matters related to their department.
  • Advise the Governor on matters within their jurisdiction.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by H.E the Governor or as per county legislation.
  • Fulfill any functions conferred by the Constitution or national legislation.

Requirements for Appointment:

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Must hold a first degree from a recognized university in Kenya. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Must meet the requirements of leadership and integrity as per Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a managerial position.
  • Must understand the diversity, challenges, and opportunities within Embu County.
  • Should be conversant with the Constitution of Kenya and devolution laws.
  • Must be a visionary and strategic thinker with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Should not hold any other state or public office.

Mandatory Clearances:

Applicants must obtain clearances from the following institutions:

  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

2. BOARD MEMBER – EMBU COUNTY INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (4 POSITIONS)

Vacancy No.: VN/2/3/25
Terms of Service: Three (3) years, renewable for one (1) further term.

The Embu County Government is seeking to recruit competent and qualified individuals to serve as Board Members in the Embu County Investment and Development Corporation. One candidate will be selected from each Sub-County.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Must hold a degree from a recognized university in any of the following fields: Economics, Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, Tourism, or Public Administration.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the public or private sector related to Economics, Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, Tourism, Public Administration, or any other relevant field.
  • Must have a distinguished career in their respective fields.
  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Required Documents:

Applicants must attach the following documents:

  • National Identity Card.
  • Academic and professional certificates.
  • Clearance certificates from HELB, KRA, EACC, CRB, and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI.
  • Any other relevant supporting documents.
