The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. The Commission plays a critical role in ensuring the independence, accountability, and efficiency of the Judiciary in Kenya. To uphold its mandate, the JSC is inviting applications from qualified individuals to fill several key positions.
These roles present an opportunity for professionals with the necessary expertise to contribute to the administration of justice in Kenya. The available vacancies are within the Sports Disputes Tribunal, the Tax Appeals Tribunal, and the Judiciary’s Supply Chain Management department.
Available Positions
- Member, Sports Disputes Tribunal (Advocate) – Two (2) Posts
- Participate in the resolution of disputes related to sports governance, athlete contracts, and disciplinary matters.
- Ensure adherence to national and international sports laws and regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other tribunal members to maintain fairness and transparency in dispute resolution.
- Contribute legal expertise in hearings, rulings, and case management within the tribunal.
- Engage with stakeholders in the sports sector to uphold judicial integrity in sports-related matters.
- Member, Sports Disputes Tribunal (Non-Advocate) – Four (4) Posts
- Contribute expertise in relevant disciplines such as sports administration, finance, or medicine in resolving sports-related disputes.
- Participate in the adjudication process and decision-making on sports disputes.
- Ensure compliance with sports governance frameworks and fair resolution of cases.
- Work with other tribunal members to foster professionalism and impartiality in sports-related judgments.
- Support the tribunal in liaising with sports federations and stakeholders.
- Member, Tax Appeals Tribunal (Advocate) – One (1) Post
- Hear and determine appeals concerning tax matters brought before the tribunal.
- Provide legal insight on tax laws and their application in dispute resolution.
- Collaborate with fellow tribunal members to ensure just and timely adjudication of tax disputes.
- Draft and review rulings and legal documents related to tax appeals.
- Ensure the fair application of tax legislation and policies in resolving cases.
- Member, Tax Appeals Tribunal (Non-Advocate) – Three (3) Posts
- Provide professional input in taxation, finance, economics, or accounting during the resolution of tax appeals.
- Analyze tax-related disputes and contribute to case deliberations.
- Assist in interpreting tax laws and making informed decisions in tribunal hearings.
- Work collaboratively with legal experts and tribunal members to ensure accuracy and fairness in tax dispute resolutions.
- Engage with key stakeholders in the tax and finance sectors to enhance the tribunal’s effectiveness.
- Director, Supply Chain Management, Judiciary – One (1) Post
- Lead and oversee supply chain management operations within the Judiciary.
- Develop procurement policies and ensure adherence to public procurement laws and best practices.
- Ensure efficient resource utilization through effective procurement planning and contract management.
- Supervise and provide strategic direction to procurement staff to enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
- Monitor and evaluate procurement processes to ensure compliance with national regulations and ethical standards.
- Provide advisory services on procurement strategies and supply chain risks within the Judiciary.
