Position Title: Embassy Driver / Chauffeur (Temporary – 3 Months with Possibility of Extension)

Key Responsibilities
The Driver/Chauffeur will be responsible for a range of logistical and transport services that support the effective functioning of the Embassy of Norway. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Transportation of Staff and Official Visitors
- Provide reliable and safe transportation services for Embassy personnel, including diplomats and visiting dignitaries.
- Ensure prompt and courteous pick-up and drop-off of Embassy staff and official guests to various locations within Nairobi and occasionally to surrounding regions.
- Accommodate changes in itinerary and respond effectively to unplanned transport needs with flexibility and professionalism.
2. Delivery and Collection of Official Documents
- Safely deliver and collect official documentation, packages, and correspondence from government ministries, agencies, service providers, or other Embassies.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive or classified material.
3. Vehicle Maintenance and Upkeep
- Ensure that the assigned Embassy vehicle is kept clean, well-maintained, and in excellent working condition at all times.
- Conduct routine checks on fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and related systems.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle servicing, refueling, repairs, and daily mileage.
4. Compliance with Safety and Legal Regulations
- Adhere strictly to Kenyan traffic regulations and road safety practices.
- Practice defensive driving and uphold the highest standards of caution and courtesy while on duty.
- Respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively, utilizing knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
5. Administrative and Logistical Support
- Provide assistance with various logistical tasks as requested by the Embassy’s administrative or consular teams.
- Support in planning transportation logistics for official events, conferences, or visits.
- Monitor and report any issues or irregularities concerning the operation or condition of the Embassy vehicle.
6. Representation and Discretion
- Serve as a professional and courteous representative of the Embassy of Norway during all interactions with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, integrity, and strict confidentiality in the discharge of all duties.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for the position, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
1. Work Authorization and Legal Compliance
- Possession of a valid work and residence permit for Kenya is mandatory.
- Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Kenya throughout the contract duration.
2. Driving License and Track Record
- Valid Kenyan driver’s license with a clean driving history.
- Demonstrated experience in safe driving practices and knowledge of local traffic laws.
- Familiarity with Nairobi’s road networks, landmarks, and alternative routes.
3. Professional Experience
- Prior experience working as a professional driver in a diplomatic mission, international organization, or comparable high-level institution is required.
- Proven ability to transport senior officials and sensitive documents with discretion and professionalism.
4. Educational Background
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent secondary education.
- Additional training or certifications in defensive driving, road safety, or vehicle maintenance are an added advantage.
5. Communication and Language Proficiency
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including diplomatic and government officials.
6. First Aid and Emergency Preparedness
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response protocols is a valuable asset.
