Vacancy – Driver / Chauffeur

The Embassy has a temporary vacancy of 3 months with the possibility for extension as Embassy Driver. The position is available from May 2025.

The Embassy of Norway in Khartoum, currently located in Nairobi, represents Norway in Sudan. Norway’s engagement in Sudan includes support to the political process, humanitarian response, and development cooperation.

Main duties: 

• Safely transport Embassy staff, visitors, and official documents to various locations within Nairobi.  
• Ensure the Embassy vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and in good condition at all times. 
• Follow all traffic regulations and safety procedures. 
• Must be able to navigate and orient oneself to various destinations within Nairobi 
• Assist with various administrative tasks related to the Embassy services. 
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling official Embassy matters. 

Qualifications: 

• Must have experience as a professional driver for an Embassy or similar high-level organization. 
• Valid work and residence permit in Kenya is a requirement.  
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
• Knowledge of local traffic laws, road safety standards as well as practicing defensive driving techniques. 
• First aid knowledge 
• Fluent in English/Swahili (both written and spoken). 
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plus. 

Personal attributes 

• Strong oral and written communication skills.  
• Self-driven with ability to work unsupervised. 
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities and undertake multiple tasks simultaneously. 
• Respect for cultural diversity, with the ability to fit into a diverse team and to establish networks. 
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, if required. 

Employment modalities 

The position is based in Nairobi under a local contract. Remuneration as Embassy Driver / Chauffeur Messenger. A professional and conducive working environment will be offered, in addition to insurance and regulatory pension benefits. The Embassy Driver will be based at the Norwegian Embassy in Khartoum, currently co-located with the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi.
