Job Description
Production Clerk (Vegetable Oil Extraction Plant) – Mombasa, Kenya
We are seeking a Production Clerk to support inventory and production data management in a vegetable oil extraction plant. The officer will be responsible for monitoring materials transfer, verifying packaging and consumables usage, and ensuring accurate documentation of production outputs and waste.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive feedstocks from warehousing and ensure all goods transfer notes are accurately recorded in production datasheets.
- Verify availability of packaging materials, requisition production consumables, and ensure proper usage reconciliation.
- Ensure accuracy of production outputs, including oil extracted, cake produced, and waste generated.
- Capture and transfer production waste to the HSE department with proper documentation.
- Ensure accurate counting of finished goods from the production shop floor and oversee the handover to logistics with signed goods transfer notes.
- Monitor daily production plans versus actual output and report deficits for resolution.
- Oversee production inventory management, including daily and monthly stock takes, variance investigations, and issue resolution.
- Ensure proper storage of feedstock, finished goods, and packaging materials while maintaining a well-organized storage area.
- Monitor and analyze daily material balances (raw materials, finished goods, yields, and recoveries) and reconcile data with the production team.
- Manage production processes and transactions in SAP.
- Ensure finished goods meet quality specifications before transfer to logistics.
- Maintain accurate and timely production data entry and reporting.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports on material usage, including waste data from different processing sections.
- Conduct material and process consumables cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy.
- Analyze inventory and waste data trends to provide insights for process improvement and waste reduction.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in production planning or as a Production Clerk preferably in a vegetable extraction or milling plant.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and production processes.
- Experience with ERP/SAP systems is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
