Position: Registered Nurse

Location: Mater Misericordiae Hospital
Department: Nursing Services

Main Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nurse, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering holistic and patient-centered care in accordance with the hospital’s mission and nursing standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, providing, and evaluating individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Assessing the physical, psychological, and mental health needs of patients and ensuring their nursing needs are met.
  • Delivering customized care plans for patients based on their individual requirements.
  • Assisting patients in carrying out their daily living activities with dignity and compassion.
  • Monitoring, recording, and reporting any changes in a patient’s condition or symptoms to ensure timely interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of patients and formulating appropriate nursing care plans.
  • Participating actively in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated care.
  • Supporting medical staff in the examination, treatment, and management of patients.
  • Assisting in clinical and diagnostic investigative procedures as required.
  • Orienting, mentoring, and supervising new staff members and nursing students.
  • Overseeing ward operations to ensure effective coordination and smooth flow of activities.
  • Promoting open and effective communication with patients, families, and other departments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe work environment.
  • Ensuring that all discharged patients leave with the prescribed medications, discharge summaries, and follow-up appointments as necessary.
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned to support patient care and hospital operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma in KRCHN/KRN/M
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a valid practicing license
  • Minimum of two (2) years of post-graduate experience in Nursing
  • Computer proficiency
