Samuel Hall, a globally recognized social enterprise specializing in research and policy design in contexts of migration and displacement, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Lead to join its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Pillar. This is a full-time position that offers the flexibility to work remotely or from the organization’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Position: Project Lead – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)

Location: Remote or Nairobi, Kenya
Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable (includes a trial period)

About the Role

The Project Lead will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, timely, and high-quality delivery of between 2 to 4 concurrent research projects. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills, and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary and multicultural team. The Project Lead will serve as the central point of contact for clients and play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, insightful, and impactful research outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Objective 1: Team Management and Coordination

  • Implement project timelines and ensure their effective execution.
  • Lead all internal research communications and coordination processes.
  • Oversee project finances, reporting, and liaise with finance and administration teams.
  • Manage project team members in both office and field environments.
  • Provide training for national and international teams involved in projects.
  • Produce, review, and approve all key project documentation.
  • Supervise fieldwork authorization processes, working closely with area coordinators.
  • Coordinate project activities with relevant stakeholders and partners.
  • Ensure timely submission of deliverables and accurate project invoicing.

Objective 2: Client Management and Communication

  • Handle day-to-day client requests and project-related communications.
  • Lead stakeholder presentations and internal/external project briefings.
  • Maintain efficient systems for data sharing, uploads, and project-related documentation.
  • Prepare project proposals, attend networking events and strategic meetings.
  • Expand Samuel Hall’s network and partnerships with stakeholders and donors.

Objective 3: Research Execution and Oversight

  • Lead planning and coordination of research teams across countries.
  • Manage mixed-methods fieldwork, including both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Support the design of research tools, methodologies, and deliverables.
  • Supervise and train research assistants and area coordinators.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of collected data.
  • Contribute to data analysis, report writing, and dissemination of research outputs.

Vacancy Requirements

Required

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, International Development, Migration Studies, M&E, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of MEAL experience in migration or international development-focused projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and/or quantitative research tools, statistical software, and data visualization.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and international team setting.
  • Must have legal authorization to live and work in the country of application.

Desirable

  • Prior experience working in East and Horn of Africa, Central/South Asia, or the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
  • Background in NGOs, international organizations, or research institutions.
