The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act, 2006. It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody. KNBS also oversees the coordination, supervision, and development of programmes within the National Statistical System (NSS).

1. Senior Manager, National Statistical System
- Job Title: Senior Manager, National Statistical System

Monthly Remuneration:
- Basic Salary: Kshs. 169,380 – Kshs. 236,460
- House Allowance: Kshs. 50,000

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director, Statistical Coordination and Methods, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring activities in the National Statistical System Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mapping and maintaining the NSS institutions’ register within the official data ecosystem;
- Supervising development and production of statistics across the NSS;
- Overseeing the development, review, and harmonization of the national strategy for the development of statistics;
- Supervising the production of regular thematic NSS statistical abstracts and bulletins;
- Coordinating harmonization and production of data from various institutions;
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify data gaps within the NSS;
- Monitoring data quality across the NSS;
- Supervising Statistics Sector Committees;
- Overseeing the preparation and review of guidelines for designating official statistics;
- Initiating and updating the compendium in line with international standards;
- Sensitizing stakeholders on harmonized concepts, definitions, classifications, and methodologies;
- Managing and developing staff in the Division;
- Reporting on divisional performance;
- Performing any other lawful duties as assigned.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Must have served as Manager, Statistics or equivalent for at least three (3) years;
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or related field from a recognized institution;
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or related field;
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (minimum six weeks) or related qualifications;
- Proficient in computer applications;
- Strong analytical, financial, and HR management skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
2. Manager, Human Resource Development

Monthly Remuneration:
- Basic Salary: Kshs. 133,260 – Kshs. 189,960
- House Allowance: Kshs. 40,000
- Commuter Allowance: Kshs. 16,000
- Extraneous Allowance: Kshs. 20,000
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resource Management and Development, the jobholder will be responsible for implementing activities in the Human Resource Development Section.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising implementation of HR policies and strategies;
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory HR requirements;
- Managing identification and assessment of training needs;
- Designing training projections and plans;
- Organizing implementation of training and development programs;
- Ensuring efficient utilization of learning and development resources;
- Designing coaching and mentoring programs;
- Implementing knowledge management programs;
- Preparing agenda and implementing decisions from Training Committee meetings;
- Managing, monitoring, and evaluating training programs;
- Implementing internship and attachment programs;
- Performing any other lawful duties as assigned.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Must have served as Assistant Manager, Human Resource Management/Development (Level 5) for at least three (3) years;
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Education, Business Management or related field;
- Master’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field;
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management;
- Member of a recognized HR professional body;
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program (minimum six weeks) or equivalent;
- Certificate in computer applications;
- Proven merit and performance in previous roles;
- Knowledge and experience in financial planning and budgeting;
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
