1. Medical Officers – 10 Posts (Job Group M)
Medical Officers will be central to the delivery of curative and preventive health services in hospitals and health centers. They will manage both outpatient and inpatient care, participate in clinical diagnostics, and offer guidance to other healthcare workers.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive physical and diagnostic examinations.
- Treating and managing common medical conditions using appropriate therapies.
- Overseeing the clinical care of admitted patients, including surgical procedures within their scope.
- Offering referrals for specialized treatment when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Participating in community outreach programs and health promotion initiatives.

2. Dental Officer – 1 Post (Job Group M)

- Carrying out dental assessments and diagnostics including radiographs.
- Performing dental procedures such as extractions, restorations, and prophylaxis.
- Advising patients on preventive dental care and oral hygiene.

3. Pharmacists – 2 Posts (Job Group M)
Pharmacists will oversee the provision of pharmaceutical services and promote the rational use of medicines across public health facilities in Kisii County.
Responsibilities:
- Dispensing medications accurately based on prescriptions.
- Monitoring the effectiveness and safety of pharmaceutical therapies.
- Managing the storage and inventory of drugs and health products.

- Conducting minor surgical procedures such as wound suturing and incision and drainage.
- Prescribing and administering appropriate medications and therapies.

5. Pharmaceutical Technologists III – 10 Posts (Job Group H)
Pharmaceutical Technologists will assist pharmacists in ensuring the proper dispensing, distribution, and handling of pharmaceutical supplies and services.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and dispensing prescriptions as per medical guidelines.
- Maintaining records of issued and returned pharmaceuticals.
- Monitoring expiry dates and assisting in drug stock rotation.
- Offering basic drug information and counseling to patients.
- Supporting surveillance of adverse drug reactions and pharmacovigilance activities.
- Assisting in inventory management and forecasting of drug needs.

6. Orthopaedic Trauma Technologist III – 1 Post (Job Group H)
The Orthopaedic Trauma Technologist will support orthopedic care by providing technical services in the application of traction, casts, and other musculoskeletal support procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the setting and immobilization of fractures and dislocations.
- Applying and removing casts, splints, and traction apparatus.
- Supporting orthopedic clinics and rehabilitation services.
- Educating patients on the use and maintenance of orthopedic devices.
- Monitoring patients’ progress during the healing process.
- Maintaining orthopedic instruments and equipment.
- Participating in surgical assistance for orthopedic procedures.
7. Medical Laboratory Technologists III – 12 Posts (Job Group H)
Medical Laboratory Technologists will play a key role in providing laboratory diagnostic services to support patient care and disease surveillance.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting and analyzing patient specimens such as blood, urine, and sputum.
- Performing laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, parasitology, and clinical chemistry.
- Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and diagnostic machines.
- Documenting and reporting laboratory findings accurately and promptly.
- Adhering to biosafety and quality assurance protocols.
- Participating in external quality assessments and audits.
- Supporting disease outbreak investigations and public health surveillance.
8. Registered Nurses / Midwives III – 9 Posts (Job Group G)
Registered Nurses and Midwives will provide essential nursing and midwifery services, including antenatal, labor, and postnatal care to mothers and newborns.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting maternal and child health services.
- Monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
- Providing labor and delivery support, including emergency obstetric care.
- Educating mothers on breastfeeding, postnatal care, and family planning.

- Taking vital signs and reporting abnormalities to clinical staff.
- Administering oral and injectable medications as directed.
- Assisting in patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
- Observing and documenting patient behavior and progress.
- Participating in health promotion and prevention activities.
- Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of ward equipment and spaces.
