Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Dean School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Essential to this role is the desire of the successful applicant to primarily focus on educating Bachelor of Pharmacy Students, engaging in research activities, and providing clinical expertise to enhance the overall learning experience and advance the field of pharmacy, as well as contribute to world-class research that improves practice while delivering a service to the university and the community.
Key Responsibilities
The Lecturer/Pharmaceutics Assistant Professor will be a key faculty member involved in teaching, research, and mentorship of Pharmacy Students. The primary focus is on educating pharmacy students, engaging in research activities, and providing Pharmaceutical and industrial pharmacy expertise to enhance the overall learning experience and advance the field of pharmacy.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics be an added advantage
- Master of Pharmaceutics/ Industrial Pharmacy should have the intention to pursue a PhD
- BPharm/ PharmD from an accredited university.
- Registered/ Registrable with the Pharmacy and Poisons board.
- Fulfills Commission for University Education requirements for the position.
- Demonstrable ability to engage in independent research, with an established record of scholarly publication.
- Experience in supervising pharmacy students
- Demonstrable success in the supervision of postgraduate students.
- Demonstrable abilities to work effectively as an interdisciplinary and collegial team member, well developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide leadership and take the initiative.
Characteristic Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions in pharmaceutics.
- Develop and update the curriculum in line with current pharmaceutical trends.
- Guide and mentor students in academic projects and research.
- Conduct innovative research and contribute to academic publications.
- Participate in departmental and institutional activities to uphold academic excellence.
- Serve as a faculty advisor to pharmacy students and oversee assigned co-curricular activities.
- Engage in professional development and stay updated with advancements in the field of pharmaceutics.
