We are currently seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This individual will be instrumental in shaping financial strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing resource stewardship, and leading VisionFund Kenya through its next phase of sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
- Serve as a key financial advisor to the CEO and Senior Management on strategic issues relating to finance, treasury, accounting, and administration.
- Prepare and present timely, data-driven financial insights and reports to the Board of Directors, regulators, and senior leadership.
- Monitor financial performance against strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Lead strategic planning and risk-informed decision-making processes using relevant financial data.
2. Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Oversee the preparation and consolidation of business plans and annual budgets across all branches and Head Office departments.
- Ensure alignment of branch and departmental plans with the organization’s strategic priorities.
- Support cross-functional teams in building realistic financial forecasts and spending plans.
3. Financial Policies and Risk Management
- Review and update financial, treasury, and administrative policies regularly to maintain cost-effectiveness and alignment with current regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date financial operations manuals and implement robust internal control systems.
- Serve as a key member of the procurement committee, providing financial insights during decision-making.
- Implement measures to enhance the credibility of financial statements and internal reports.
4. Liquidity and Asset Management
- Ensure adequate cash flow and funding to support operational needs while maintaining prudent liquidity management.
- Monitor the institution’s liabilities and ensure optimal borrowing arrangements.
- Comply with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) regulations on liquidity ratios, provisioning, and asset quality.
- Maintain comprehensive contingency plans to mitigate liquidity crises and strengthen financial resilience.
5. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with CBK regulations and other legal frameworks governing microfinance operations in Kenya.
- Respond to queries and audits from CBK, tax authorities, and external auditors promptly and effectively.
- Oversee tax compliance, insurance policy management, and claims resolution to prevent organizational losses.
- Liaise with consultants, lawyers, and government bodies to manage financial risk and compliance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Educational Background
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CFA or similar professional certification is highly desirable.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in finance, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role within Microfinance, Retail Banking, or Enterprise Lending.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multi-branch financial systems and working with international donor-funded organizations or subsidiaries.
Key Competencies
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, microfinance industry practices, and financial modelling.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to negotiate and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Proven leadership in driving performance and motivating teams across multiple functional areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, and experience with accounting systems like QuickBooks or SAP.
- Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, compliance, and business process optimization.
