Job Title: Material Planner

Reporting To: Director of Supply Chain
As a Material Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring Roam’s production and operations run smoothly. You will be responsible for planning and scheduling material supply, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring optimal inventory levels across production, aftersales, and logistics.
This role demands a proactive and analytical individual who thrives in a manufacturing and supply chain environment and is passionate about sustainable technology.
Key Responsibilities
As the Material Planner at Roam, your primary duties will include:
- Production Planning:
- Develop and manage schedules for production parts, aftersales components, and general operational supplies.
- Analyze demand forecasts to plan material requirements effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to identify part needs, maintain updated Bills of Materials (BOM), and fulfill urgent orders.
- Collaborate with the Aftersales Logistics Manager and technical staff for inventory audits and logistics.
- Inventory Monitoring and Control:
- Track part usage and monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Adjust material plans based on production changes, trends, and capacity.
- Procurement Coordination:
- Identify critical inventory shortages early and develop alternative sourcing strategies.
- Support the procurement team in issuing Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and negotiating with suppliers.
- Order Management:
- Manage production, assembly, and purchase orders efficiently using ERP systems.
- Ensure timely ordering and receiving of components to support uninterrupted production.
- Cost Optimization:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials sourcing and logistics.
- Analyze raw material trends and macroeconomic factors influencing cost drivers.
- Team Integration:
- Operate in a dynamic, cross-cultural team alongside manufacturing engineers, supply chain experts, and product development professionals.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Economics.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Material Planning or a related function within a manufacturing setup.
- Prior hands-on experience with ERP systems (preferably Dynamics 365).
- Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A background in engineering and experience in supply chain/material planning will offer a significant advantage.
