Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation established under Legal Notice No. 4 of the State Corporations Act Cap 446. With a 650-bed capacity, the hospital is a premier institution committed to providing specialized healthcare, advancing medical research, promoting education and training, and fostering partnerships in healthcare development.
In partnership with the University of Manchester and other stakeholders, KUTRRH has received a prestigious award from the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, United Kingdom, to spearhead a groundbreaking initiative under the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Group for Improving Oesophageal Cancer Survival in Kenya: The Hub & Spoke Model.
This strategic project is built on a hub-and-spoke framework, with KUTRRH as the central hub and five counties—Kisii, Meru, Kiambu, Nakuru, and Nyeri—serving as the spokes. The project seeks to improve oesophageal cancer survival through outreach using a mobile endoscopy clinic across these counties.
To support this endeavor, KUTRRH is looking to recruit dedicated and qualified personnel on a part-time basis for the following roles:
1. Nursing Officer, Endoscopy (Mobile Clinic)

Job Description:
The Nursing Officer for the mobile endoscopy clinic will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in the outreach settings. The officer will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with suspected or confirmed oesophageal cancer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care during endoscopy procedures within the mobile clinic setup.
- Prepare and maintain the endoscopy unit, ensuring proper functioning of equipment.
- Assist clinicians in performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and procedural outcomes.
- Monitor and assess patients before, during, and after endoscopy procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
- Uphold strict infection prevention and control practices within the mobile unit.
- Educate patients and caregivers about the procedures, expected outcomes, and follow-up care.
- Participate in data collection and documentation required for the research component of the project.

2. Truck Driver (Mobile Clinic)

Job Description:
The Truck Driver will be responsible for safely operating the mobile endoscopy clinic vehicle across the five counties. The driver will ensure timely deployment of the mobile unit, maintenance of the vehicle, and support logistical coordination during outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive and operate the mobile clinic truck to all designated counties as per schedule.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any mechanical issues.
- Coordinate with project staff to ensure timely and efficient movement of personnel and medical equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and functional readiness of the mobile clinic.
- Maintain accurate records of travel, fuel consumption, maintenance, and repairs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations during transit.
- Support basic setup and dismantling of the mobile clinic equipment as required.
- Provide assistance in loading and offloading supplies and equipment.
