Job Purpose

The Fixed Assets and GL Reporting Accountant will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of asset capitalization, depreciation, and reporting. The role also involves tracking capital work in progress (CWIP), ensuring proper documentation, compliance with accounting standards, and coordinating with key departments to ensure accuracy and completeness in financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Capex and Fixed Assets Management
    • Ensure seamless tracking and execution of capital expenditure (Capex), including site transfers and SRN activities.
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management, Networks, and the Accounts Centre of Excellence for end-to-end asset lifecycle management.
    • Ensure timely and accurate capitalization of assets, and account for depreciation and amortization in line with financial standards.
  • Accounting and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and complete records for fixed assets, duties, and CWIP.
    • Review capex item codes and perform detailed CWIP CL analysis.
    • Execute fixed asset accounting processes including capitalization, impairment recognition, and depreciation in compliance with PTC guidelines.
  • Asset Disposal and Verification
    • Facilitate the sale of assets, including inter-company transfers and scrapping, ensuring correct invoicing and proper retirement from books.
    • Manage end-to-end verification of assets, reconciling with General Ledger and Fixed Asset Register.
    • Lead monthly warehouse visits to verify procedural compliance and accuracy in physical inventory.
  • Capital Work in Progress (CWIP)
    • Ensure timely and accurate CWIP clearing and provisioning.
    • Provide oversight for Airtel Money CWIP from initiation to final capitalization.
    • Track site activations and analyze site-wise asset capitalization for completeness.
  • Audit and Compliance
    • Prepare audit schedules and provide timely responses to audit queries.
    • Drive periodic reconciliations for fixed assets and clearance of outstanding reconciling items.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, internal procedures, and external audit requirements.
  • Process Oversight and Coordination
    • Ensure end-to-end compliance with SRN processes, including necessary approvals and documentation.
    • Oversee warehouse and GRN processes—from gate checks and inspection to posting of Goods Received Notes.
    • Maintain robust documentation throughout the purchase-to-capitalization lifecycle.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CFA.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in FMCG or telecommunications industries.
  • Proven ability in performing quantitative and qualitative reviews of financial statement items.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in preparing and presenting financial data effectively.
