Brief Description
Reporting to the Ground Safety Manager, the ideal candidate will be required to plan, develop, implement, monitor and review Safety programs and measures and work to minimize operational losses, accidents, injuries and to ensure full compliance to applicable legislations and Codes of Practice. He/she will play the key role in generating and promoting a positive safety culture and help control risks companywide.
Detailed Description
- Develop, implement and ensure sustenance of the corporate safety management system at the airside inclusive but not limited to GSE, passenger & cargo terminal & ramp.
- Prepare and ensure sustenance of safety strategies, plans and internal policy.
- Be involved in conflict resolution to the triumph of safety especially to achieve harmony between operational needs and safety requirements.
- Coordinate all Safety and health activities, implementation, and compliance for Mombasa/Kisumu/Eldoret and Outstations
- Track all changes on applicable pieces of legislation and update the company accordingly.
- Propose and ensure implementation of changes that are safe and comply with legislation.
- Coordinate development and implementation of safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
- Liaise with the airport authorities and other stakeholders to ensure risks are mitigated.
- Ensure risk registers are kept up to date and tracked at the corporate level.
- Maintain records of all reported incidents and accidents and generate statistics on performance or any other analysis requirement.
- Coordinate regular Departmental, Divisions and Sections Safety Action Group meetings and ensure that issues identified by staff are resolved.
- Update corporate risk register on a quarterly basis.
- Conduct regular workplace and operational safety audits and check that policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Maintain records of all reported incidents and accidents and generate statistics on performance or any other analysis requirement.
- Be involved in conflict resolution to the triumph of health & Safety especially to achieve harmony between operational needs and safety requirements.
- Propose and ensure implementation of changes that are safe and in compliance with legislation.
- Maintain database on Health & Safety inspections/audits and publish reports that recommend areas that need improvement.
- Produce regular safety reports that effectively serve the needs of Senior management.
- Available within short notice to conduct accident/incident investigations and produce reports with recommendations on corrective/preventive actions.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in relevant field (Applied Sciences/ Industrial Chemistry, Engineering/Technical or Public Health related field or industrial processes)from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years ’working experience in safety management system.
- Diploma or certificate in safety management.
- Training or experience in internal quality auditing.
- Training and experience in accident investigation skills.
- Demonstrable understanding of the relationship between Occupational Health and Occupational Safety and areas for synergy.
- Demonstrable ability to write technical Occupational Health & Safety Management manuals or procedures.
- Demonstrable understanding& skills for conducting successful Health & Safety Audits.
- Demonstrable experience in report writing.
- Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
