1. Visa Processing Officer (LE3)
Vacancy Type: Ongoing and Non-ongoing
Monthly Salary: KES 161,213.00
Location: Australian High Commission, Nairobi
Working Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Probationary Period: Three months
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform visa-related casework, applying legislation and policies to ensure fair and lawful decisions.
- Process applications under tight service standards and escalate complex cases to senior staff.
- Prepare moderately complex documentation and communicate with clients.
- Maintain records such as client files and handle financial records responsibly.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage operational and administrative matters.
- Investigate the authenticity of documents and information related to visa applications.
- Review additional documentation provided by clients and ensure files meet integrity standards.
- Contribute to team tasks, assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Strong time management skills and experience in team collaboration.
- Analytical ability with capacity to apply complex legislation and make sound judgments.

2. Senior Visa Processing Officer (LE4)

Monthly Salary: KES 215,354.00
Location: Australian High Commission, Nairobi
Working Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Probationary Period: Three months
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, assess, and finalise aspects of visa applications with minimal supervision.
- Handle complex case management and support specialised projects.
- Apply policy and legislative guidelines to make informed decisions on visa matters.
- Draft complex correspondence and engage with stakeholders at higher levels.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on comprehensive research and policies.
- Take leadership roles in maintaining team integrity and processing standards.
- Investigate potential risks and ensure compliance with integrity procedures.
- Train new team members and contribute to operational improvements.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- As per LE3 qualifications and experience (noted above), with demonstrated capacity to manage more complex responsibilities and cases.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
- Tertiary education in a related field.
- Extensive experience in processing visa or similar applications.

3. Senior Public Diplomacy Officer (LE5)

About the Role:
As part of the Political and Economic Section of the Australian High Commission in Nairobi, the Senior Public Diplomacy Officer will lead and implement public diplomacy activities aimed at strengthening Australia’s presence and relationships across East Africa (Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and Tanzania).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and execute a variety of public diplomacy events and initiatives throughout East Africa.
- Develop a coordinated strategy for promoting Australia’s image through cultural, policy, and developmental initiatives.
- Create and manage content for the High Commission’s social media platforms and oversee campaigns.
- Manage relationships with media, event contractors, and public affairs contacts.
- Handle public diplomacy budgets, providing financial reports and mitigating expenditure risks.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including representatives from diplomatic missions and DFAT partners.
- Assist in organising and planning high-level visits, ensuring thorough logistical support.
- Supervise contractors involved in social media and communications.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Strong background or qualifications in public affairs, cultural diplomacy, or event management.
- Demonstrated experience in planning large-scale functions or formal events.
- Proficiency in managing social media campaigns and using digital platforms effectively.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and prioritise workloads under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Capacity to represent Australia’s interests with integrity and professionalism.
