The main purpose of the job is to provide technical and administrative support to the Quality Department to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The Quality Officer reports directly to the Head of Quality – AOC/Compliance and indirectly to the Head of Quality – AMO on matters relating to the AMO quality. The Quality Officer will maintain a close liaison with the Operations, Maintenance and Medical Departments to ensure quality objectives are met.
Job Description
- Management of quality and compliance records and documentation in line with KCARs and company quality standards;
- Facilitate the effective distribution of company manuals and amendments to ensure that all manuals are up to date;
- Maintain the current Master List of all controlled manuals and documents in the company and periodically monitor the libraries to ensure that all manuals, publications and subscriptions are up to date;
- Provide support in the review, update and effective management of quality-related records and documentation;
- Provide support in the implementation of the company’s document management system;
- Provide support in the implementation of the AOC and AMO quality audit programs to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards;
- Provide support in the periodic review and audit of company procedures, practices, and documents to identify and address possible weaknesses, gaps or risks and to ensure effective compliance;
- Create, manage and assess the effectiveness of corrective action plans issued in response to audit findings and compliance violations;
- Provide support in staff sensitization regarding quality and the latest regulations and processes;
- Collect, collate, document and summarize quality control/quality assurance data and trends for the attention of the Head of Quality;
- Provide support in the planning and implementation of the Quality Management Review Meetings and other quality meetings in the company;
- Promote a strong quality culture within the organization;
- Provide support in ensuring that civil aviation requirements are consistently incorporated into company aviation processes and procedures;
- Assist in the follow up of KCAA approval requests;
- Monitor and track currencies of all KCAA approvals and other relevant documents/certificates to ensure that they remain up-to-date;
- Assist in the preparation for third party audits including planning and evidence gathering;
- Perform other work related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years’ consecutive work experience in the aviation industry;
- A technical qualification, particularly in the field of flight operations or aircraft maintenance;
- A minimum two years’ experience in the quality assurance or compliance-related role;
- Completed a Quality Management Systems (QMS) course or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- ICT proficiency.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of KCARs;
- Good understanding of AOC/AMO operations and regulatory requirements including experience. working directly with KCAA;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Positive safety mind-set;
- Analytical and attention to detail;
- Ability to work in a dynamic team as well as independently;
- Ability to accurately follow instructions and highly organized;
- Ability to multi-task with flexibility.
