Available Position: Consultant Neurologist
Location: Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu
Job Summary
The Consultant Neurologist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive neurology services to both outpatient and inpatient populations. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic team player, contributing to the hospital’s multidisciplinary care model, and actively involved in mentorship and continued professional development efforts within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic neurology services.
- Perform and supervise critical neurological procedures such as:
- Lumbar punctures
- Direct fundoscopy
- Conduct and interpret:
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
- Needle Electromyography (EMG)
- Evoked Potentials
- Electroencephalograms (EEG), including long-term video EEG monitoring
- Possess strong proficiency in polysomnography interpretation.
- Offer preliminary interpretations of neuroimaging scans, particularly for common neurological emergencies.
- Take a lead role in enhancing and expanding neurology services within the hospital and its outreach centres.
- Engage in teaching, training, and mentoring junior doctors, helping to foster the next generation of medical professionals.
- Participate in internal quality improvement initiatives and research collaborations.
Requirements
- Master of Medicine (M. Med) in Internal Medicine from a recognized university.
- Fellowship in Neurology, with demonstrable expertise and interest in comprehensive, modern epilepsy management.
- Proven track record in leadership roles within neurology services.
- Commitment to research, clinical education, and collaboration.
