We are currently seeking a professional Tamil Interpreter based in Nairobi, Kenya to support a client-related assignment for a period of one month, starting 24 April 2025 to 23 May 2025.

- Level of Effort (LOE): 26 working days (a working day is no less than 7 hours)
- Working Schedule: 6-day work week (Some tasks may require on-call availability)

Duties and Responsibilities
As the Interpreter (Tamil), your role will be to facilitate clear and accurate communication between a Tamil-speaking individual and various stakeholders, including medical professionals, support staff, and representatives of Palladium’s client. Your specific responsibilities will include:
1. Interpretation Services
- Provide accurate and impartial verbal interpretation in real-time during:
- Medical appointments
- Conversations with support staff
- Meetings with Palladium’s client
- Arrange and interpret phone or in-person communication for appointments as required
- Translate verbal updates and occasional written materials to ensure the individual fully understands all critical information provided
2. Confidentiality and Ethics
- Maintain a neutral and professional stance at all times
- Avoid inserting personal opinions or altering messages during interpretation
- Report any concerning, alarming, or safety-related information to the Palladium Team Lead immediately
- Uphold complete confidentiality and data protection related to all project matters
3. Cultural and Emotional Sensitivity
- Demonstrate cultural respect, patience, and empathy in all interactions
- Be sensitive to the unique challenges faced by the individual, ensuring they feel heard and supported through accurate interpretation
4. Administrative Support
- Maintain daily timesheets accurately reflecting hours worked and services provided
- Submit weekly updates to Palladium’s Project Manager, detailing progress and issues encountered
- Be responsive and available for on-call duties, should urgent interpretation needs arise during the contract period
Qualifications and Requirements
- Professional interpretation training or certification is required. Please indicate your qualifications in your application.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in Kenya.
- Previous experience in medical or humanitarian interpretation is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a proven ability to remain neutral and trustworthy.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally outside of standard business hours.
