1. Managing Consultant, Policy & Strategy, Africa

South Pole is seeking a dynamic Managing Consultant to join our Policy & Strategy (P&S) team in Africa. This is a mid-level leadership position ideal for professionals who are deeply knowledgeable in climate policy, carbon markets, and sustainable advisory services.
In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of public and private sector strategy, providing consultancy services on a range of climate policy topics including carbon markets, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and CORSIA. The role involves managing projects from proposal to delivery, contributing to internal assignments, developing thought leadership, and engaging stakeholders on key climate topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full project cycle for consultancy assignments: proposal development, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Lead and contribute to advisory assignments in areas such as carbon market instruments, Article 6, CORSIA, and broader climate policy initiatives.
- Coordinate the implementation of internal South Pole projects and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Contribute to service development, marketing materials, and thought leadership related to climate policy.
- Analyze carbon markets—particularly compliance markets and Article 6—and provide strategic insights to support South Pole’s carbon project development.
- Liaise with internal teams and external clients to develop carbon assets and navigate policy landscapes.
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations tailored to a range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on global and regional climate policy trends, providing cutting-edge consultancy to clients.
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in climate projects, carbon markets, or climate policy.
- Deep understanding of Article 6, CORSIA, and both compliance and voluntary carbon markets.
- Strong skills in policy analysis, strategy development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills in English (French language skills are a major plus).
- Strong project management and analytical abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international setting.
Desirable
- Experience developing carbon assets.
- Proven track record of building client relationships and stakeholder networks.
- Experience working across different cultural and geographic contexts.
- Master’s degree and fluency in French are highly preferred.

2. Intern for Policy and Strategy, for Carbon Projects in Africa

This internship opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about sustainability, climate change, and policy. As a Policy & Strategy Intern, you will support the team’s advisory work across various climate-related initiatives. This is a unique learning opportunity for someone interested in gaining practical experience in carbon project development and environmental policy in Africa.

- Assist in research and analysis related to climate policies, carbon markets, and carbon asset development.
- Contribute to the drafting of proposals, briefs, and internal reports.

While not based in Africa, this position presents a unique opportunity to contribute to South Pole’s global renewable energy strategy. The Renewable Advisory Lead will play a key role in guiding North American clients through their renewable energy transition—designing and implementing tailored energy strategies that align with South Pole’s mission and our clients’ sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of renewable energy advisory services for corporate clients in North America.
- Develop and implement renewable procurement strategies, including PPAs, VPPAs, and EACs.
- Engage in high-level client conversations and deliver strategic presentations and workshops.
- Stay informed about policy changes, market trends, and innovations in renewable energy.
- Collaborate with global teams to scale renewable energy offerings and services.

The Managing Consultant, Climate Advisory provides technical direction, strategic input, and thought leadership across decarbonization projects and net-zero transition strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex climate advisory projects and ensure timely, high-quality outputs.
- Guide clients through climate risk assessments, carbon footprinting, and science-based target setting.
- Drive business development and thought leadership in the Japanese and APAC markets.
