Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) is a premier Development Finance Institution (DFI) established to spearhead the promotion of sustainable socio-economic transformation in Kenya and beyond. Our mandate encompasses the provision of long-term development finance, infrastructure finance, and strategic business advisory services targeted at medium to large-scale enterprises, infrastructure projects, and key commercial undertakings across priority sectors.

As part of its strategic operations, KDC is currently offering a number of exciting six-month short-term contract positions for talented, motivated, and results-oriented individuals. These temporary opportunities offer a valuable platform for professionals seeking to contribute to impactful development work while expanding their career experience within a fast-paced, mission-driven institution.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates to fill the following roles:


1. System Developer – Job Grade 5 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and document computer programs based on functional specifications and user requirements.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, including network and software solutions.
  • Offer technical support and training to users for optimal utilization of ICT tools.
  • Administer and manage user profiles in Active Directory, email servers, and user applications.
  • Oversee proper maintenance and update of ICT equipment and issuance registers.
  • Support website management by regularly updating the KDC website.
  • Conduct routine data and system backups to ensure business continuity.
  • Customize and maintain Microsoft Dynamics Navision to enhance system performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Professional certification in any of the following is mandatory: CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CISA, CISSP, or similar.
  • Certification in Microsoft Dynamics Nav/Business Central.
  • Supervisory training of at least two (2) weeks.
  • Membership in a recognized ICT professional body.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

2. Senior ICT Security Officer – Job Grade 5 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cybersecurity support including installation, configuration, and monitoring of networks and systems.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation and security protocols.
  • Train end users on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Ensure regular backups and disaster recovery mechanisms.
  • Manage and monitor security threats and recommend mitigation strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • At least four (4) years of hands-on experience in ICT security.
  • Professional certification in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
  • Membership in a recognized ICT or cybersecurity professional body.
  • Supervisory training from a reputable institution.
  • Fulfillment of Chapter Six constitutional requirements.

3. Senior Communications Assistant – Job Grade 7 (1 Post)

Role Summary:

This position requires a highly creative individual proficient in content creation, digital media, and visual storytelling. The role focuses on enhancing KDC’s corporate image through digital engagement and design excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture and edit high-resolution photos and videos for marketing and archival purposes.
  • Produce creative designs for promotional and corporate materials.
  • Manage KDC’s digital platforms and implement content strategies.
  • Ensure brand consistency across communication materials.
  • Support internal and external events with multimedia resources.
  • Maintain productive relationships with media and communication stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience in photography, videography, and graphic design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Familiarity with Canva and social media marketing tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity under tight timelines.

4. Senior Portfolio Management Officer (Property Management) – Job Grade 5 (1 Post)

Role Summary:

This role is responsible for optimizing the value of KDC’s real estate portfolio through effective lease administration, arrears management, and tenant relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve tenant issues and ensure smooth onboarding of new tenants.
  • Monitor lease renewals and rent invoicing in collaboration with Finance.
  • Track occupancy levels and recommend strategies for optimization.
  • Maintain accurate records of leases, billing, and space allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to property and tenancy laws, and support recovery of rental arrears.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in property or lease management.
  • Familiarity with tenancy laws, lease registration, and property regulations.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of real estate management software.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

5. Accountants / Finance Officers – Job Grade 6 (3 Posts)

Job Responsibilities (Accountant):

  • Process staff claims, imprests, and supplier payments.
  • Reconcile ledger accounts and prepare financial reports.
  • Ensure timely statutory deductions and remittances.
  • Assist in payroll preparation and financial audits.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Computer proficiency and understanding of accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial regulations and procedures.
  • Fulfillment of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Job Responsibilities (Finance Officer):

  • Support budget preparation and analysis.
  • Maintain vote books and perform variance analysis.
  • Assist in developing financial projections and monthly reporting.

6. Legal Officer – Job Grade 6 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on corporate matters.
  • Draft legal documents including contracts and court pleadings.
  • Represent KDC in legal forums and court proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with legal standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law.
  • Advocate of the High Court with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya.
  • Knowledge of corporate and commercial law.

7. Legal Assistant – Job Grade 8 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize legal files and assist in filing court documents.
  • Serve legal documents to clients and stakeholders.
  • Monitor the expiry of security documentation and support legal team operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Law or Paralegal Studies.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Valid Process Server Certification.
  • KCSE minimum grade of C-.

8. Investment Officer – Job Grade 6 (6 Posts)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and appraise investment proposals.
  • Develop business opportunities in key sectors.
  • Monitor performance of funded projects.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure timely disbursement of funds.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, or Engineering.
  • Proficient in investment analysis and financial modeling.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adherence to Chapter Six of the Constitution.

9. Partnership and Resource Mobilization Officer – Job Grade 6 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze PPP proposals and support strategic partnerships.
  • Draft financial proposals and assist in project risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with development partners to mobilize resources.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or International Development.
  • Analytical and communication skills are critical.
  • Computer proficiency and understanding of donor relations.

10. Research, Policy and Innovation Officer – Job Grade 6 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and feasibility studies in support of KDC’s mandate.
  • Translate findings into policy briefs and strategy papers.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and innovation opportunities.
  • Support data-driven decision-making across departments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Strategic Management, Statistics, or Project Management.
  • Research experience and ability to analyze large datasets.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.

11. Supply Chain Management Assistant – Job Grade 8 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain updated records of prequalified suppliers and procurement documents.
  • Participate in bid openings and supplier evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and value-for-money principles.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Procurement, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Member of KISM or CIPS.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and computer applications.

12. Driver – Job Grade 8 (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness and regular maintenance.
  • Maintain logbooks and report on vehicle condition.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and ensure safe transport of personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • KCSE mean grade D+ and a valid driving license.
  • Four years’ experience and accident-free record.
  • Certificate in First Aid and Occupational Trade Test II.

13. Environmental Safeguards Expert – World Bank Projects (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs).
  • Prepare environmental management plans in line with World Bank policies.
  • Provide technical support on compliance with Kenya’s environmental laws.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Environmental Sciences.
  • Registered NEMA Lead Expert.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including seven in ESIAs.
  • Experience working with World Bank or equivalent international safeguards.
