Position: Sales and Marketing Officer

Location: Runyenjes, Embu County
Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: The Human Resource Manager


Job Summary

The Sales and Marketing Officer will be tasked with the responsibility of driving business growth through recruitment of new members, promotion of Sacco products and services, and development of marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility and competitiveness. The position holder will also be responsible for member education, customer care, relationship management, and the retention and expansion of the existing client base.

This role is ideal for a results-oriented, creative, and customer-focused individual with an ability to execute multiple tasks and build lasting client relationships.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Sales and Marketing Officer are categorized into four key areas:


I. Customer Service and Care

  • Handle members’ inquiries and complaints within the scope of office authority, ensuring swift resolution and member satisfaction.
  • Educate members on Sacco operations, policy changes, and new product offerings to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Initiate the creation and periodic review of the Sacco’s customer service charter to ensure alignment with member expectations and service excellence standards.

II. Selling and Membership Recruitment

  • Actively promote and sell all Sacco products and services to prospective and existing members.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive product presentations to individuals, groups, and organizations.
  • Identify and recruit new members to grow the Sacco’s membership base and market penetration.

III. Marketing and Brand Promotion

  • Consistently seek new business opportunities and untapped markets to support revenue growth.
  • Implement approved marketing strategies and campaigns aimed at enhancing the Sacco’s market share.
  • Design and execute an annual strategic marketing plan aligned with the Sacco’s goals of growth, visibility, and service delivery.
  • Participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, marketing promotions, roadshows, and any other public engagement events organized by or in partnership with the Sacco.
  • Provide post-event reports and marketing activity feedback for internal analysis and strategic planning.

IV. Relationship Management

  • Build, maintain, and nurture effective relationships with members to encourage loyalty, trust, and continuous business.
  • Educate members about the Sacco’s operations, products, and changes in policy or regulation that affect them.
  • Conduct field visits to gather member feedback, handle concerns, and strengthen community engagement.
  • Actively manage the Sacco’s corporate image and uphold its reputation across all points of contact.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the Sacco’s brand in all marketing and customer-facing efforts.
