The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is offering an internship opportunity for the position of Intern – New Urban Agenda Support, based in Nairobi. This six-month, full-time internship is situated within the Knowledge and Innovation Branch of the External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division (ERSKID).
The branch is responsible for leading the development of UN-Habitat’s flagship reports, gathering and reporting on urban data, and producing cutting-edge knowledge and innovation on cities and urban development.
Interns will assist in supporting the coordination of UN-Habitat’s work on urban crisis prevention and response, including the implementation of the UN-Habitat global programme on urban migration and displacement, and the development and coordination of UN-Habitat’s response to crises in urban contexts.
Responsibilities include drafting knowledge products and working documents, mapping and analysis of UN-Habitat’s current portfolio in the field of urban crisis prevention and response, and supporting the preparation of communication materials to enhance the promotion of UN-Habitat’s work on crisis prevention and response
Applicants should be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate or final-year undergraduate program in fields such as urban planning, international development, or related disciplines. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in standard software applications, and a keen interest in sustainable urban development are essential. Fluency in English is required.
